Thanks for the tip, I'll check this product out.

@varelov: i completely agree! given the popularity of PDFs, i don't at all understand why most e-readers have problems with this format. it seems really counter-intuitive to me. i'm thankful that i thought to research this, as i nearly bought one of the new kindles a month ago.

@hidari: that programme looks very helpful, thank you. however, if i need to buy another programme to make PDFs work on an e-reader, then that just suggests to me that that particular e-reader is not the right product for me.

@Latinandgreek: thank you very much for your continued input. i think i'm definitely going to go for a larger screen model and probably the pocketbook 903.

thanks to one and all for your help!

As many on MR have pointed out...PDF is one of the worst formats for ereaders. I don't mind paying for a product that helps with my reading...Have contributed to Calibre and other programs.... For me the smaller the ereader and the lighter the better..I already have a V5 and just ordered a PB360....5 inch screens all the way...despite some people despising them...I am in the camp that despises large screens...I have a large screen for my notebook...that is enough...

Or the best, depending on your perspective.

I agree I have quite a few books on PDF format and they look just fine on my nook.

so yeah it's all about what type of file it is. I sure maps etc wouldn't be to ideal on my nook color though.

E-readers essentially rely on scalable pages. The PDF format sports fixed-size pages, so it can be very troublesome.

Hi,
Have you received your Pixelar or any shipping updates?
I am considering ordering either this or the pocketbook 903. But since pixelar is available from london, thinking it may get to me earlier.

I'd forgotten that this one was going to be released. Asus also seems to have a 9 inch reader:

I've ordered the PB 903. Both are delayed but my PB903 dealer said there will be a small batch available next week. Let's wait...

The M-Reader looks pretty good (better design) but since PB903 is shipped from Germany i try it first.

No, I think that it's a sixpix display, while the Kindle is Pearl (Vizplex) e-ink. To be honest, I don't know which has better contrast, refresh rates, etc. I'm interested in the Asus device, but I'll wait to read a few reviews first before I buy it.

It's compareable with eInk:
