Heilà!

I'd be glad to fetch the most recent firmware, but... where do I find it?

pocketbook-int.com: file not found
pocketbook-usa.com: no mention of the 900 series
greenreader.info: page is not loading

I guess I'll have to just sit and wait...

If I had to guess, I'd say that's because the 2Gb storage is divided between two partitions, one of which is hidden and can't be accessed. It must be the one where the OS is.
For instance, my pocketbook contains lots of dictionaries but just German_English.dic shows up when I connect the device to my PC. They must be hiding somewhere...

I decided to try these instructions but I can't say I understood how it's supposed to work. I downloaded the Pocketbook SDK and the poterm tool from this page but even the simplest commands (ls, df) are not working. See this picture:

You know... In the end, I'm having fun in trying to solve these riddles

A-ha! Yes, you're right. The screen orientation was set to "portrait", so I set it back to automatic as you suggested. It's now working perfectly, thank you very much!

I gave it a look but I can't really find a command I should use. Besides, upon remapping one of the directional buttons, this message appears:
http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo...eat=directlink

So... what the message says is not consistent to how the system behaves. I really do need to update my firmware. Thanks for the advice though.

Cool, thanks. I'm looking forward to it.
Could you please clarify why my PB 902 shows just 1Gb of storage?

Asked this in another thread and been told that "Memory total" should better be "Memory in use". That way it sums up to nearly 2 GB.

Because it has the 20 dictionaries and the Text-to-speech software inside, which are quite big.

Dictionaries may be a point but definitely not Text-to-Speech.
Text-to-Speech is a feature of the product and should not count againt memory available to the user. Otherwise FW may also count against available memory.

Memory for user has one feature : If you remove ALL software from the device incl. dictionaries the device will still funtion with all features. Dictionary will work even if you removed all dictionary books. Text-to-Speech MUST work after format of internal memory. The same is true for dictionary even if all books are missed. Reformatting internal memory MUST show about 2 GB available memory to the user.

That said it should be written "Memory in use" instead "Memory total" as shown on the picture. Dictionary books may decrease free memory and increase memory in use.

I'll try that when my 903 arrives.

I'm wondering about the 903. I couldn't find it listed anywhere, even for pre-order. Is it available for order outside the US? Would they ship to US? What is the 903 price?

M.

Never mind, found it here http://www.pocketgoods.de/product_in...k-pro-903.html although it seems to be almost $450!
