really? I never thought that it mattered what kind of rice is used. I dropped my blackberry in water before, so I put the rice in a Zip Lock back and left it there for a few hours and that worked. |

Just to throw another tip out there, if you drop electronics in salt water then it helps to flush the whole thing in pure alcohol. The alcohol flushes away the salt and quickly evaporates leaving everything dry.

>Helpful Hint: If you use Minute Rice your device will dry even faster.
My Sony is on a low-carb, high fiber diet and is sitting in brown rice. I don't want my Sony getting fat, I picked it for the slim profile. Actually it truly is sitting in brown rice. I think it probably has poorer absorption properties than white rice but it's all I had in the house. |

Because if I wanted a fat one, I would have bought a Nook.

Doesn't mean your vodka... you flush your gullet with that and end up needing to look like this the next day
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Being serious a moment, most rescue/cleaning info suggests using deionized/distilled water first if dunked in saltwater or similar corrosive water-based solution... |

I'm back and more important, so is my reader. I shook out all the rice and turned it on this morning and it worked just fine. Thanks for all your words of support. I was never panicking because it turned on and powered off properly right after "the incident."

Thanks so much, guys. Well it did inspire me to buy a warranty, since I was still within 30 days.
