Instead of a pile of unread paperbacks on the floor I'm working on a plan to have a pile of different e-book readers, each with a pile of books waiting to be read.

Since getting the Kobo a few months ago the only paper books I've opened have been reference books. It's still quicker to grab a dictionary off the shelf in the office and look up a word than to start the Kindle and search in its dictionary.

I don't miss paper books at all and I read more since buying my Nook. I love the fact that a finger swipe turns the page and I don't have to hold pages open. Best yet, no more worry about losing my place because my kids decided they wanted the bookmark and pulled it out.

They may have a book donation bin near you (the website allows you to search for them in your area). The hardest part is letting go of the books at the bin.

It's not an all or nothing thing for me. Right now, I'm reading a library pbook. I love books, period, and I enjoy both ebooks and pbooks for different reasons. Each also has drawbacks for me. if I felt I had to only read one type from here on out, that would feel suffocating.

Incidentally, when my husband first gave me the ereader, I initially felt a sense of loss like you are describing. It didn't take long to appreciate that I can have my cake and eat it too

I love ebooks in concept, but not so much in execution. To me, they are still a bit too crude to replace paper books, and I really have trouble forcing myself to spend full book prices on ebooks with kindergarten-level formatting and typesetting. With luck and a little market-oriented motivation, reading software and the books themselves will become much more pleasing to the eye, and if E-Ink and its competitors continue to step up their game and develop more readable low-power screens, I'll shift pretty much all of my fiction to digital format.

For now though, I'll be reading around 50% of my fiction on paper. Academic reading I've been splitting pretty evenly between computer monitor and paper, but none on a dedicated reader device yet.

Not really.... I started reading ebooks a few years ago and have never looked back. Shortly after going digital, I tried reading a few paper books and found myself missing the digital reading experience.

No i certainly don't miss the paper books, i used to buy a lot of mine off ebay , only to have them delivered , open them up to read and then the smell of strong tobacco hit you in the face, my ebooks are very real and they are always nice and fresh.

Really. I've never in my life had that happen and I currently buy almost all my print books used from Amazon vendors.

I still have both. I love hunting in used bookstores to find great books. I still use p-books during take off and landing. And, sometimes I just don't want to bring my ereader with me.

No, because I don't see it as a case of either one or the other. I have both ebooks and pbooks and I don't plan on giving up either... I enjoy them both equally. My ebooks are just a part of my entire library of books, whether they be e or p. So pick up a few of those shiny, new, unread paperbacks once in a while and enjoy

The space savings, the ease of getting new books and the ability to carry my entire library with me have rendered paper books a distinct second class as compared to ebooks on my ereader.

Nothing closer than an hour to me. I have a few options around here; it's just a matter of overcoming inertia in order to bag them up, lug them to the car, drive them somewhere, and lug them out of the car. I'll probably enlist my son's young energy when he visits next month, take them to a used book store, and let him have the credits.

Just passed my first anniversary with an ebook reader (first a Kindle2 and now KindleDX). While I love the ease of my Kindle and the fact that I can carry *hundreds* of books on it (and do), my weird tastes means that many of the books I'm interested in don't exist in any ebook format and so I still buy and enjoy my paper books.

I think it's a case of ebooks all the way for me now, yet I still miss paper books. I still enjoy seeing a stack of paper books, picking one up, feeling the texture of the pages and the page cuts, smelling newly bought books, looking at some of the beautiful and thought-inspiring covers out there.

Then I actually start reading a paper book and the novelty quickly wears off. Usually heavier, needs both hands, sometimes dusty. Really, I'm fully convinced of the convenience of ebooks, and I still miss the aesthetics of paper books, yet once I start reading a paper book, I can't help but compare it to the ebook experience.

I'm such a fickle person.
