Well, I ordered the Sony PRS-650 today. I'm looking forward to being able to borrow ebooks from the library. I anticipate using the expansion slot frequently to load on books for my kids, the dictionary will probably be used occasionally, mostly by them. The PDF feature's will be used intermittently, though I've converted most of my library to epub using Calibre while I wait. The battery life is going to be really nice, the touch screen is slick, and the whole package looks very stylish. I'll let you know how it works out when it comes in, if I can pry myself away from my books long enough.

I opted not to go with the Kindle, for two reasons...Wifi access meant nothing to me in my location, and excluding that feature, Sony was better on so many other fronts. Library support is important to me. I frequent my brick & mortar library at least once per month. It's a valuable institution and I wanted that capability in a reader.
+ conversion of my epub books to mobi may get bothersome after a while.

I picked Sony over the Kobo for the following reasons:
Sony is a 3rd Generation device vs Kobo's first year. I like to give companies at least a full year to work most of the bugs out of their devices before purchasing. Ease of Navigation, storage, Speed, clarity, and build quality all seem to be better on the Sony. These two are the only two I've actually seen. The Kobo in Walmart & a friend of mine has a Sony. To me, I simply preferred the look & feel of the sony when I held it in my hands. My hands are really little, and the Kobo felt HUGE in comparison.

The ability to take notes, highlight & annotate documents is a bonus feature that I think may be used more & more frequently as time goes on.

I would have strongly considered the Kobo, if I had been more concerned with Price, and if I was likely to be the only user of this device. Or if Wireless was a necessity. However, the sale price reduced this impact for me. The Kobo is an entry level reader, and does this well. The Sony just seems a bit more mature.

I'm happy with the purchase. We'll see if I'm still this happy when it gets here.
