Lighted Cover

Anyhow... just wanted to note... the cover with light for the 950 is MUCH, MUCH better than the one for the 900. It is lighter, the arm for the light is more flexible, allowing for better positioning and, most importantly, the light is much brighter. I would really recommend getting it, it really improved my experience with the 950.
Thanks for that information. The light on the 650 is equally very good.

I agree with vxf....got the lighted cover today. It's elegant and fits perfectly. It has an auto on-off switch...just raise the light and it turns on. "Lo" or "Hi" settings. Also has weak magnets that hold the covers against the front and back of the reader.

It won't fit the PRS 900, which I also own with lighted cover. btw...it's in excellent condition and for sale. Reach me if interested -- galan112@hotmail.com

Doh! I called to get the tracking number for the replacement unit that shipped on Monday. The rep gave it to me and then told me that they had shipped the wrong one to me again! They asked me to refuse the shipment and informed me that they are processing my refund now. How sad.....

I think I will just drive over to the Sony store and pick one up...

Regards, Peter

I just got the same comment from them. They've issued me a refund so time to order from somewhere else.

M, They told me this also, but I believe there is no way to really know for sure that they did it other than waiting a few days to see if the refund shows up!?!

Agreed. I bought through ebay and paid with paypal so I feel pretty protected, but time will tell.

M, Yes! I'm taking comfort from the same sequence.

We should be fine.

I'm in touch with my local Sony Style store about getting a 950 cover so that I'll at least avoid the shipping charge while perhaps getting an early delivery.

I've never had to push for a refund through PayPal so I am hoping not to learn how. The person I spoke with said that I should see the refund within the next 24-48 hours. We'll find out soon enough.

Because of all this annoyance, I went to my local Sony store and purchased a cover with light. I must say that it is rather nice though pricey. The standard cover should arrive tomorrow so I will decide which one to keep over the course of the next few days.

Regards, Peter

I ordered from Sony Style today. If you do a search on sonystyle coupons there is one available for 10% off accessories which at least covers the bulk of the shipping costs. My local Sony Style store only had the lighted cover and they didn't know when they would get the regular one in.

Could someone do me a favor please? Perhaps you could take some fairly high resolution photos of your covers? I'm hoping to make a decision as to whether I would prefer the lighted or standard cover. Perhaps even place a ruler along the bottom of the lighted cover so we could see how wide the lighted reader cover is? I'm just wondering if I might be more satisfied with the standard cover and then buying a third party clip-on light. I find myself riding commuter buses several times a week, and with fewer daylight hours, sadly I've had to return my reader to my bag because it has been too dark . I'm just not sure that I want a permanent light, and I can't afford to buy two cases. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

Sincerely,

Abisha

Abisha, I pasted the dimensions from the Sony website below. For me the lighted cover adds too much width and weight. I know many people love them though. I have had one in the past, and it was just too bulky for me. I have tiny hands. I bought the standard cover and a clip-on light. Plus, I can use the clip-on light with my other ereaders too. Other factors might be what size bag you store your reader in. Also how often do you think you'll use the light. If it's just on the bus, then maybe a clip-on would be fine.

STANDARD COVER Weights and Measurements
Dimensions (Approx.) : 5.51 x 0.75 x 9.45 in. (W/D/H)
Weight (Approx.) : 0.34 lbs.

COVER WITH LIGHT Weights and Measurements
Dimensions (Approx.) : 6.53 x 1.06 x 10.39 in. (W/D/H)
Weight (Approx.) : 6.5 oz (185g) (0.4 lbs)

Sadly the Sony website has the wrong dimensions (perhaps they are for the PRS-900?). The actual dimensions for the lighted cover are approximately 6.25w x .625d x 8h. For the standard cover they are approximately 5.25w x .625d x 8h.w
