If the Kindle had EPub it would probably pick up a bunch more users.

But Library books are DRM'd. Given that I have yet to see an ereader support ADE and another form of DRM its makes be believe perhaps exclusivity on devices when it comes to DRM support - ie: pick one but not both kind of situation.
Hmm, the cheap price of ereaders is it really that big a deal to own a Kindle and another ADE-based ereader (for library books if that is your thing)?? |

While e-readers have come down in price, $140 is still a decent chunk of change. It would be nice if Amazon allowed EPub's on their reader if only because it would stop everyone kvetching about the lack of EPub support. I don't know that I would use the library or buy from anyone outside of Amazon but the option would be nice.

To be quite candid, I found them to be very minor irritations.
Nothing that would make me give up on my Kindle. Cheers. |

#2 - its an ebook reader and not a multi-use tablet computer. This "irritation" is as ludicrous as complaining that a premium chef's knife has only one blade unlike the "jack of all trades, master of none" Swiss Army knife. #3 - completely wrong; the reporter doesn't know how to use the dictionaries. The dictionaries, at least the Oxford American that I use as default, has quite a number of definitions of phrases. After moving the cursor to the first work in the phase in question, one simply needs to press the return button to open the dictionary and read the rest of the definition and, often, page forward through the many related definitions to find the phase in question. A single "Back" press returns to your book. |

I have to agree with several of these points. I love my k3 but it is weird how they place the buttons (why isn't Home on the outside?) so that there's no place to pick it up that I won't hit a button. And I have little hands!

I find 9 of the 10 points irrelevant for me but the Free 3G goes beyond irritating. It is misleading and actually downright dishonest.

This guy either doesn't get it or works/is paid for by Apple.
For crying out loud, the Kindle is a device to read books on, nothing more, nothing less, it is not an iPad, or a PC, or a calculator, or a game console or a ................ As a device to read books on its price/perfomance is great and its abilty to display book pages even better. "After so long he still hasn't found out how to hold the K3", poor thing :-( |

Hello, All.
I saw this thread and was immediately interested in what would be posted. I have to be honest and say that the 10 irritaions listed by the author are (IMHO as a brand-new Kindle user) irrelavent. As others have already commented on these 10 rather completely, I am not going to "rehash" or revisit them. I have the WiFi version so 3G isn't an issue for me. Very honestly, my NUMBER ONE (complaint? irritation? wish?) enhancement to the Kindle 3 would be in giving use a much more robust collections management function. I am a nester -- no, not someone who is comfortable in always staying at home. I like to keep my "stuff" be it files, documents, music, books, etc. nested in a folder structure of MY choosing. For example, I would LOVE to be able to do: o Fiction - General - Historical - Military - Non - Science o History - Ancient - American - General - Military - World o Romance - Erotic - General - Historical - Parnormal etc., etc. To me, NESTING COLLECTIONS would my much more valueable than the irratations listed. Regards, Vandy ![]() |
