I'm curious as well. The Sony website originally indicated black would be the actual shipping color, but all reference to a black unit has been removed from the sony site. At this point it doesn't look good for an additional color in the short term, otherwise I don't see why the would delete the reference on the website.

This, I think, is what I'll do.

Order from bhphotovideo.com and send it to my ShopUSA-account (www.shopUSA.com). They are located in Virginia and when making a free account you automatically get a US adress). ShopUSA then take care of VAT, told and shipping. They take a small commission, but the overall costs only amount to 267 USD (when using the current offer of 199 USD from bhphotovideo). If ordering directly from bhphotovideo the costs amount to 370 USD.

Think I'll do it

I know exactly what you mean. My aunt was coming down for a few days, so I had a very small window to ask them to buy it. She got me my PRS-650 (black

) and it cost me $248.50 with taxes. There are various discounts being offered now, but if I had waited, I'd have to get it shipped (and pay insanely high shipping which would negate the discount) or wait 6-7 months till her next visit.

She forgot to get me a cover though. Did your cover arrive? How is it? I'm planning on scouting for a similarly sized generic cover and adapting it a bit myself to fit the reader since we don't have any official covers retailed in India.

Anyone of you guys who bought the 650 in the USA, can check the warranty coverage outside the US?

I live in Europe, the device is sold here also (quite more expensive though!) A friend is going to NY and she could bring one for me on her flight back.

Can anyone check their warranty card and report back?

It shouldn't matter where it is bought. If the product is sold in your country you should be able to return it to your local Sony Center if anything goes wrong. The warranty is according to your country's standard warranty rules. In Denmark there is a standard two year warranty on all products.
