Bah, still not done reading the previous books. we'll see where we're at by then.
And my TBR list is long enough to wait anyway.
LOL, yeah they are a bit big. I'm on book 12, but I've not read it yet. It took me 3 years to get to 11, but I was waiting after Jordan passed until the other one came out. I'm going to get 13 today, and maybe...just maybe, I'll read them before the end of next year

It's the reason I haven't read Feast for Crows, it's been 3 years since the release of that I believe.

It's the reason why Leather Bound edition is marked as
Code:
Shipping Soon
Shipping Estimate: November 2, 2010

This is one of the very few series I have in HB with the last three books hopefully as Leather Bound too. It also is the last series I buy as printed books. 2011 is going to be the landmark of printed books for me. February I will get the last HB of Malazan and November the last of WoT. No more after that, unless special edition of a book I really love.

Ah, so I don't have to file a suggestion for purchase with the library.

I can wiat. I started reading the series when they came out on e-book. No biggie.

And I have series doubts about ever buying anything written by George RR Martin again. I have not read the most recent book of his, mainly because pretty much everyone I know says that it was awful and focused on characters no one cares about. The man does not understand the concept of a deadline and seems to have time to do plenty of other things. He is abusing his fan base pretty badly.

That's what I've found myself doing more and more. Digital for general reading and an actual spot on the shelves for really loved books (either for content or...well, sometimes I just get a physical book due to it just looking so beautiful.) If it's going to be permanently in view then it has to justify itself somehow.

Someone is posting release dates for his work and he is not meeting those release dates. As the author, he has to deal with the backlash. Or he can ignore the people who are unhappy, which seems to be the path he has chosen.

He loses some cash because I don't buy his next book. Or any other series that he writes because I don't feel that I can trust him to meet a deadline. I lose reading his work.

We both lose a little. There are plenty of other great writers out there I can read and the few dollars he gets from me is not really going to hurt him.

He can call it being artistic, I call it bad business.

Must... resist... buying... the... hard... cover... edition...

I know I shouldn't have but I went ahead and read the Prologue and Chapter 1 from the book. HUGE mistake.

My wife and I will be going out after dinner and will literally be just a few steps from the book store. I don't know if I'll be able to resist... it would mean spending $$$ on my first paper book in over 2 years!

Damn whomever is responsible for putting me into this position!!!

If I had the complete series in hardback I would be buying the hardback. It makes 100% sense to me.

Thank god that I didn't read them until they were out in e-book form. (grins)

Easy. It is the wheel of time series, so it is about the time to re-read them all.

You want to be up-to-date on the plot and maximize the pleasure of the latest installment, don't you?

I've been buying them in hc since about '96, so what the hey. I'm number 6 in line at paperbackswap, so I'm just going to wait a couple of months and get a decent copy for the cost of shipping.

Of course, I haven't read past "Winter's Heart". I'm waiting til '11 to start reading the whole series so that when the final book comes out I can read it, know what is going on, and end the series.

I'm so tempted to say "One. That's all there have ever been. It just gets different titles," but that would be rude of me, wouldn't it?

LOL I have heard one book and I have heard three books. I heard that it was suppose to be one book but became three books.

So three books and this is the first of the three.
