That is a GREAT tip about changing the clock to extend a library book. I will definitely try that.

DARLI: can you tell me where you got the $7 sleeve? I haven't got a case yet and I'm looking at my options.

Thanks for the welcome, everyone!

Congrats on the new eReader. I got mine this past Thursday. My 10 yr old daughter has already taken it over. I'm letting her try it out as she thinks she wants one for Christmas.

Thanks for the info on keeping the library books from expiring. I had hoped they would do like the audio books from the library site and never expire after I transfer them over to my MP3 player.

Thanks for posting that info I didn't think of that. Just make sure you don't connect to your pc or it changes the date to the actual date it is.

My library lets me borrow for up to 21 days

I'm thrilled with it, now I just might have to find a way to... ahem... use all those B&N books that I legally own.
I've been stockpiling B&N books also (over 120) in anticipation of Nook 2 (wanted longer battery life and black body). Then Nook Color happened, so Nook 2 isn't happening this year.

Now I'm searching for something else that'll do ePub. Sony and Kobo would work, but they're both overpriced for their feature sets. Hopefully, Black Friday might see some great sales.

Tubemonkey, I agree with you that the Sonys are overpriced for their feature set. So it's a good thing mine was a birthday present. I'm not sure if there will be a lot of great deals, though, since the Sonys are quite new and they don't typically discount much. I thought the $50 in free ebooks and the Borders free lighted covers were both good deals. We'll see what Black Friday brings!

What's different this year is the availability of all of the major ereaders in big box stores; competing along side of each other.

I could see Amazon selling the K3 WF for $99 on Black Friday as a counter to B&N's Nook Color. $99 is a magic price point and could steer people away from the Color.

Best Buy: Kindle, Nook, Sony
Borders: Kobo, Sony
Target: Kindle, Sony
Walmart: Kobo, Nook, Sony

I'm not so sure. Word on the street is that Amazon is already selling the Kindle below cost.

I agree that $99 is a sweet spot for pricing an e-reader.

A 4-6 hour doorbuster sale might be worth it. After all, content is the most important consideration. The device is just a means to that end. Kindle books go unsold when people buy Kobos, Nooks, and Sonys.

Sorry, but I got mine on clearance at Target; it was for a nook, but works well for my PRS650. I have seen the same case for 29.99 other places.
