It all depends on how are you planning to buy your books, if u want to mainly but from amazon then go with kindle, if you plan to read mainly freely available ebooks (such as public domain books etc...) then go with JBL.

I chose JBL and bought a used one 2 months ago and i'm quite content with it. i charge it about once a week (depends on my reading) and it's really nicely built etc...

I didn't buy Kindle coz i value my privacy and i wanted a reader that supports open standards with an expansion slot and with support of foreign languages, and yes i hate DRM. I mainly read classic works so getting books isn't a problem though JBL supports DRMed formats (but not amazon's).

Dropping your phone on the screen from a medium height is not good for the JBL.

There is a big black dot and a little black dot that makes it very hard to read the top of the page.

Dropping it on the top left corner isn't good for a ALP either. Esp, only 2 months after buying it... It leaves dead lines on the left side of the screen. Thankfully it is still easily readable.
