Aren't there a *lot* of files in that single folder?

If your backup is a copy of the calibre library, it is already in 'one book per folder' format.

If I double-click the opf file from windows explorer, will this import the book into Calibre??

No, but dragging & dropping the opf file will import it. Note that this imports the *book* but not the *formats*. To import the format, you would need to open edit metadata and then drag the correct format to the formats box on the top right.

If it is not possible, is there a way to tell the Add Books icon to select which add type is the default without selecting the drop down menu?

Yes but so far I have only had to rebuild my library once, hopefully I will not have to do that again any time soon.

Yes but the only problem with this is that Calibre will create another subdirectory with the new id for the added books so they will end up being there twice.

Thanks I guess I will stick to doing it in Calibre, I will have to get used to using the dropdown menu.
