kovid - ran the calibre-debug -g, Ran several 'good books' and nothing appeared in the 'black command window'. Then when I clicked on the bad book the following appeared in BCW
qcolor:: setnamecolor: unknown color name 'fffffff' qtexthtmlparser :: applyAttributes unknown color name 'ffffff' [is there a way to copy this from the BCW? Thanks Last edited by emphasis; 10-30-2010 at 01:02 PM. |

That helps, it seems like the html in the comments of that book is causing the crash in Qt. Try hiding the book details pane (press shift+alt+d or click the tiny book icon in the bottom right corner) and see if that fixes the crash.

I have updated to 7.26 I have hidden the book details pane NOTHING HAS CHANGED I can not delete the book, edit the book, etc because the program is not recognizing the book. Whether I attempt to place my mouse on the line or using the up/down arrows to go to the line the program just dies! It is good that you identified the problem, now how do i correct it. Jerry |

Well 0.7.26 had no changes that would affect your issue, so I'm not surprised it didn't help
![]() As for fixing the problem you will have to use the command line tools to do that: Run calibredb list > output.txt Then run notepad.exe output.txt That will give you a list of books with id numbers in the left most column. Fin the id number of your problem book and then run calibredb remove id_number where id_number should be the number you found |

Kovid - I understand your instructions, just not positive how to accomplish.
I run calibredb list > output.txt and the black command window opens and I can see the program and creating the file and then when finished running the window closes. So then I run notepad.exe output.txt and notepad opens but with a message saying cannot find output.txt file. I tried to find it but could not. Where did the file go? did I do something wrong? did I not do something? BTW the fix certainly sounds simple enough. I appreciate your assistance. Jerry |

Kovid (and the others who responded) -
Thanks for all your help. I have eliminated the problem and now Calibre is working correctly. FYI - after repairing I readded the book that was the problem and program worked fine. I then edited/downloaded metadata using isbn number and also downloaded the cover. Pregram DID NOT run correctly, same problem as before. I did repair and it worked OK. I only added the cover and it worked OK. Am leaving it the way it is. Jerry |

Would you mind posting or PMing the title/author/isbn number of the book so I can try to fix the underlying problem.

I'm sorry, I'm still not understanding how to find and open the command line (in windows) to run the tools listed above. I think my problem is similar. can anyone explain further?
Thanks |
