I was going to cover it once more with brown duct tape, but didn't realize I was out of it. So for now, just silver (and curiously, the kindle screen seems to reflect about as much as silver duct tape)
I also use packing envelopes, but just re-use ones that are sent to me for purchases. That way my address is already on it. Thought it was just me who decided to spend the money on books instead of covers

It works perfectly, and with the cable around the edge, the kindle clicks into place and is very secure, and pops out again easily.
awesome cover! thanks for sharing and I'm inspired to make my own since I coincidentally have an old moleskin notebook lying around.

Squeakywheel, I don't have a comment about covers, but OT, just had to comment on your avatar, I love Wally Lamb's books! Don't hear many others mention him or anything, glad to see someone else who obviously does.

Hi all, I'm new here. Got my K3 last week, and wanted a nice book-looking cover. Here's what I ended up with:

I've got pictures of the entire process. It looks just like a normal book from the front.

Thanks, PG4003. I'm so glad you are a Wally Lamb fan as well! I cannot put into words the depths to which I enjoyed "I know this much is true" and "She's come undone". It's been years since I've read/re-read them, though my affection for them has not diminished the slightest.

I have not yet read "The hour I first believed" or "Wish'n and Hop'n," but they are high on my "to read" list!

I have an old moleskin notebook hanging around my room that I couldn't wait to turn into a Kindle cover when I woke up this morning. Here are some pictures of the end result. The book was way too thin once I added the Kindle packing material, so I had to use duct tape to extend it. It's not as polished as I'd like, but seems sturdy enough. The wire pipping does a good job of keeping the Kindle in place, but when I take the Kindle out some of the pipping comes off as well - anyone have any ideas on how to glue the pipping in place?

Yes, I also have a home-made cover - used some thin sponge stuff almost like wetsuit material (from Clarkes Rubber for those in Australia) and edged and joined it with cloth tape. Looks "home-made" as my sewing skills are basic, but it works and protects the screen (which the expensive flexible covers don't)
I love the really well made ones, perhaps we should start a thread with a photo gallery of bejeweled and embroidered ebook covers?

I noticed something that would likely work in basic fashion.

The Reject Shop has $3 A5 diaries - faux leather, the ones with vertical pockets that the first and last page of the diary slides into.

Take out the diary and you'll be able to slide a V3 kindle into the pocket, either side. Not read it in there, but carry it around and protect it.

This sort of thing, but a no-name variety with a bookier 'tome-looking' brown fake leather cover :-

Here is a case I just made. This is only for transporting it. I like to hold the bare Kindle when actually reading. I documented the build process here:

Homemade Kindle Case

Here are a couple pictures of the final case:

Ok, I made a new cover and this one is way better than the first one i posted.

I used a cheap planner, felt paper, cardboard, elastic bands and hot glue.

Ok, I just wanna say, Emily Dickinson is the creepiest..
