I did that very thing with one of my extra readers--loaded it up with books and lent it to my sister. Last week she called me to ask if two of the books, which she had read and enjoyed, were available in hard copy so she could purchase them and add them to her library.

The thing is, most of the p-Books I have actually say in the 'fine' print on the copyright page that I'm not allowed to lend it, MacMillan might have a case. B&N is attempting to increase sales by making the e-Book more like a p-Book, but the publishers just don't get it. They'd rather lose the sale/kill the e-Book market and pretend people aren't lending p-Books.
The dinosaurs failed to adapt... look where it got them. |

It is real - it's just not what the people (me?) who skim too fast thought it was.
I can see why it couldn't wait for April 1st; every opportunity for one-upping Amazon must be used. ![]() |

You know, the funniest part of this is that it is more or less true?
I mean, if you want to lend someone one of your BN ebooks, just have them side-load it to their nook and open it with your BN.com CC#. The Nook doesn't keep the card number accessible, just uses it to open the book. Obviously, you probably don't want to do this for strangers, but trusted friends and family, yep, you can lend them a book forever or as long as they want to keep it on their device. Done it for hubby... and am expecting him to do it for me in the near future, since he bought an ebook I want to read. |

Some people think it wasn't a meteor, and the extinction period was over a longer period. It's hard to know for sure since dating technologies aren't that accurate - 10 years or even 100 years can change a lot on this planet (as we've seen), but it is within the margin of error for radiometric dating.

Such a shame that the actual function on both devices is so restricted, the limitation of only being read by one person at a time is okay but the sheer arbitrariness of only being able to make one 2 week loan seems like it would just lead to less people using it at all.
