Not everyone wants eink, the largest market for this device does not know this site we are on exists or that there is an eink culture out there.

Everyone I talk to that is not knowledgeable about eink immediately says it looks old and hard to use because it is black and white.

I think this could be a game changer because of kids books, a magazines etc. The question is is this the sweet spot between full tablets and high functioning readers.

My father in law is 65 and has no issues reading on his laptop, he thinks eye strain is not really a problem. The question is how many others feel the same.

I love my nook and I am glad this new one is a higher end device so I can justify my purchase.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I agree with you

Yes this is filling that niche void, The 'ahh eink is boring and I don't want to spend over $500 on an iPad" crowd which is huge.

Maybe. There are going to be other tablets that are released that will do the same thing probably for a similar price.

The reality is that it is going to be compared to the IPad and other tablets. It is not really going to compete with e-readers.

I hope it does well for B&N but I will wait to see how it compares to other tablets that will soon be released.

My first reaction to seeing it was that I want one now. However, the more I think about it the more I want to stick with my current eink nook. I was tempted for a time by the iPad, but the price is a complete turnoff and the thing is huge. This is much closer to the size and price I want for a tablet. I will probably hold off for reviews. B&N didn't get the original nook right for a couple of firmware upgrades and the nook color may have the same issues. Definitely tempted though.
