The whole argument is just silly. The market is there for considerably more variety, not less. Look at the digital camera market: it ranges from <$100 to >$4000 with over a hundred models in between. Why do people think there is only room for one reading device? More different features and price points would only improve the experience of users. For me, I have no use for an iPad. Too big, heavy, and expensive, and I have no need for the features it has that my nook doesn't have. I simply would not use the features, and would be burdened by the too-big device. Something I don't want.

My mobile devices are an old Palm 72, a not-so-mobile laptop, and my candybar cell with lot of Java games.

After reading exclusively on my iPad for about 6 weeks - 2 to 4 hours a day, I definitely notice that my eyes are getting screwed up. When driving, particularly at night, far away signs are fuzzier than they were.

Since I am not eager to start wearing glasses, I have switched back to the Kindle, and thinking of buying the DXG.

The iPad is a great netbook replacement, but for my eyes, it's not a great reader.

Come Black Friday, I hope to be more gadgetized. I'm beginning to see a Nook Color and an eInk reader.

Hm... I was under the impression it's the other way around. For me, Kindle always seemed more of a girl toy.

Anyway, 3 gadgets is realistic. Two would have been better, but that's how it is.
Carrying more is a Hollywood fiction (or syndrome).

My usual is phone+ nitendo DS + cybook.
Right now, i'm carrying the netbook, instead of the DS. Spend time in the RER (for non french people, that's a train) editing with sigil, something a tablet will not do for

I'm having a hard time with my netbook touchpad, because i'm uses to resistive screens you need to really push
