RMDIR is an internal command. DELTREE was available as an external standalone program. At the time, I needed an external program. I didn't compare speeds RMDIR to DELTREE, but DELTREE was lightning fast for a directory that had 30,000 files, and I needed to delete it weekly on several machines.

DOS floppies will not work correctly with NTFS formatted drives (probably won't even see them). Modern drives, way exceed any size that was envisioned back in the DOS ("Who needs more than 640K of RAM" days.

The Windows XP (up) command prompt is NOT MSDOS, it just looks like it.
