Mainland Europe's Sony (France, Italy, Germany, Netherlands) sells both of the readers in all of their colours - blue, pink, silver for 350; black, red, silver for 650. I can't understand why red 650 and blue 350 aren't available in UK ![]() |

Oh, ok, that explains why I've only seen silver or pink ones offered here in the U.S.
I wonder why Sony makes such arbitrary restrictions based on geography in terms of color choices. They should always make black (or a dark gray) a color choice everywhere. |

Indeed ...some decisions made by Sony are strange.
At least hard to understand. |

My new black PRS650 arrived on Friday. Bargain priced at 25% off (AU$225) here in Australia thanks to the recent Angus & Robertson coupon.
Wow I was surprised at how white the screen was compared to the 505 and the page turns were noticeably faster. The touch screen is actually quite good compared to the previous 2 attempts Sony have made and doesn't affect screen clarity at all. It looks like they spent a lot of time improving the PDF capabilities as it would have to be the best PDF functionality in a 6 inch reader now. PDF page turning used to be quite slow in the 505 now its as fast as epub and lrf. Dictionary look up is good but I can't see myself taking notes or diagrams but some will I guess. Only problem was no case supplied like with the 505 so I have vecroed it into my old 505 case at the moment as it is a little smaller then the 505. Overall an excellent successor to my trusty 505. |

I LOVE my 350...because it offers the six different sizes instead of three and because you can change that options in seconds rather than the minutes it takes with the 300, I can easily change my font size to my situation. So I can read more on the screen in lower light. The contrast is SO much better.
I was really afraid that I would NOT like the touch screen option, but I actually love it now. Although of course a 650 would be nice, I really like the small lightweight size of the 350. I can not believe how much smaller it is than the 300...It easily fits in my purse and weighs next to nothing which I love. Especially because my purse is usually weighed down with a small camera and one or two of the kids DS players. I do not regret my choice at all. |
