Is there a physical Amazon store in the state it was bought in?

I've never paid tax on Kindle books........or anything bought from Amazon proper.

It has something to do with Agency Pricing. IIRC, if the Publisher has any kind of facility/office in your state then you have to pay taxes.

hope815, if you are not sure that you are satisfied, I would return it, and then buy it again at your leisure when you have more time to study it.

I thought perhaps it was because Amazon has at least one shipping facility here in Indiana, but that also makes sense.

I bought a Kindle 3 for my mother and while not perfect (what is) it is quite nice.
Collections work pretty good but much easier if you download kindle collection manager.
(search this forum)
Two days ago I put 2300 ebooks on my mothers kindle. I expected it to index for days, but was under 5 minutes after reset.

To view your books on kindle by collections you have to cursor up to the top of the home screen and select collections.

I believe you have to register your kindle for collections to work.

Lots of legally free ebooks on Amazon, mobile read, project glutenburg etc.

Get a dozen or so and start reading. If you enjoy reading on it the rest will work out.

Some states do pay taxes. See the link below for an explanation, including the impact of agency pricing. You'll see AZ is on the list. It impacts EPUB pricing too at other ebookstores similarly.

Interesting that you don't have to pay the e-waste recycling fee for the e-ink display o: how did amazon get away with that one?

California usually rapes me with 8$+ per display I buy on that one alone.

Sacramento just hasn't got around to it yet. Give them time - there are a lot of things for them to tax, you know.
