From what I understand is DRM is illegal in the US. Like other purchasing laws once oyu bought a thing, doesn't make any difference if its a ebook or a paint brush, the seller releases all claims to that item and you the customer can do what oyu like with it as long as you do not attempt to market it as your own work.

Well, that is wrong in pretty much every way
You haven't purchased the IP contained within the eBook, and the author/publisher still retains copyright to it. You cannot copy and distribute it without violating their copyright.
