Not to say that I was not VERY happy with my jetBook - I was! At the time I got it, Sony and Amazon's offerings were in the $300 range. Now that they have come down, I am a bit curious as to how they compare. In the meantime, I guess I'll use my phone.

I'll be happy to wait a bit for the deals.

An update for all interested:

I decided to take the JB apart again and examine the screen itself. Inside it looks like a bunch of broken glass--or a broken mirror. I HIGHLY doubt that even if I could buy a replacement screen that I would be able to put it in successfully. The connection is buried and the original screen is glued to the circuit board.

If anyone wants the spare parts (battery, blue exterior), I'm putting them up as FFS on the Flea Market.

There is someone here who has been lamenting that his case has been gradually falling apart due to cracking. Mayhap if you open a new post saying that you have a case available, it might get his attention (sadly, I can't remember who it is).

I now have a Sony PRS-350, so all I was hoping for is the cost of shipping covered from whomever wants the case and battery.

Now maybe I'll stop getting PM's regarding hacking the Libre/JB/Chinese firmware!

I am VERY happy to report that Sony took my jetBook, busted screen and all, and gave me a $75 coupon for a new Sony! With the current sale, and the eCampus discount, that means I can get a PRS-350 for $60 for my wife. It took about a week from when I sent it in to when I received the coupon. Just wanted to report so that any others who had the same woeful experience with the screen could recoup their investment.

Enjoy your readers!

My JBL fell today :-( The screen cracked, large black blotches on the screen. It fell from one meter or so. It impressed me that such a small height could lead to a cracks on the LCD screen. The construction is fragile.

I choose to buy another brand. I ordered a Sony PRS-350 hoping that it has a good pdf engine, like the JBL.

Sad... I liked my JBL...

PDF on the Sony gives you reflow, but not nearly as many zoom options. Hopefully it will work out for you just the same, though.
