Ok...now that I got access to my Calibre, I am having issues with viewing it! Grr!
It initially loads up fine, I start to see a list of books, then the screen refreshes itself and I can only see the books that are visible in the touch screen section below. And it doesn't have a scroll bar to view more of the page. It's like the only part of the list that exists is what can be displayed in the menu screen at the bottom. When I zoom the page out and refresh it, it does give me more books visible, but only what can be seen in the menu screen. I wouldn't care that I could only see on the main screen what was visible in the touch screen, but it doesn't give me a scroll bar!
I tried taking a pic so you could see what I was talking about, but it didn't turn out well:

Try one of the other access paths. The standard one (http://ip:port/) uses a lot of javascript and fancy networking. The others, mobile and opds, are much simpler and more static.

The mobile version is accessed by http://ip:port/mobile, and the OPDS version by one of http://ip:port/opds or http://ip:port/stanza.

Glad you got it working

Going to an external site to get your IP address would have got you your "external" address and not your internal network one. There are times one wants to know the external address so it is still a useful thing to know how to do.

Many thanks to Chaley an itimpi, I was having the same problems as Woodygirl and your solutions solved my problem too. Calibre is now viewable on the Acer A500 running Aldiko.

Cheers
