I've been reading while eating since I was old enough to read, starting with everything on the cereal boxes at breakfast. I can still fondly remember, when I was in grade (elementary) school (in the late 50's) going down to the local market in the summertime on my bicycle, getting lunch meat and cheese and the latest Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Flash or other comics, coming home and making my sandwich and then sitting down and reading the comic book while I ate.

As an adult I've had three different jobs where I traveled all over the country, so I would usually eat breakfast and many dinners alone, accompanied by a good book.

This continues to this day. I'm retired now and I usually eat breakfast and lunch alone while my wife's at work, so I'm usually reading my Kindle, the paper, or a magazine. I get really bored eating alone and not being able to read and it seems like wasted time to me.

@Badbob
You beat me to it, as I started reading this thread I was thinking "this would be the one thing I could see a microphone being useful for, voice commands"
