...end of April isn't too far away now - this is great news.

In terms of open source development -

Ali, you're right in that nothing is stopping developers develop what they want (at least when we have the re-flash fix) and iRex then deciding to include any development (or not) in the main branch afterwards.

One way of reading the statement could be .... the approach they are offering here is simply stating up front that they will definitely include in the main branch from the community, therefore they want to offer guidance to ensure it fits well. This could be viewed as priming the pump; this is good given the wants on this forum.

It's odd that calibration isn't already on the main branch ... but at least iRex are taking notice of the community!

how about "real soon"? Will that be "soon enough"? How long is a iRex soon?

With MP3 not surviving the wait, it died of old age or starvation or... make your own guess!

Matthijs clarified that it was still on their radar the other week. So it's not dead yet.

"I'm not dead yet!"
"Yes you are, you'll be stone cold in a minute."
"I'm getting better!"
"Shut up, you're not fooling anyone."

is that a quote from Monty Python?

--edit: My workmate has just informed me that it's paraphrasing MP and the holy grail.

Should have attributed it, perhaps, but I thought the puzzle would be more interesting, and I knew the paraphrase was a bit off.

Speaking of the dead...

In my own experience, they only wish to guide you on things they approve of. Try to step 1cm off the path they want you on and poof no more guidance...

I'm also still trying to get UPS to collect from the bastards. They have yet to pay UPS for return of my defective iLiads and UPS is getting very aggressive about having me pay for the last return. But since I paid out of pocket for the first return, and never got a penny from iRex, I'll be damned if I'm paying out of pocket for the second one. I've submitted the written authorization from Karel to return the second unit. Hopefully I can get UPS to punch out iRex's UPS account over their blatant fraud.

Should that be "of" or "from"?

Seriously, though, it's good to hear from you scotty1024, you've been quite for long enough I was considering digging up the old "where's scotty got to" thread.

Well the two projects (stylus calibration and power management) we selected are both largly supported by the community, and as said these are trial projects so we are open for suggestions if you feel things could be handled different and better.
