Yes, I always like trying anything new and seeing what it does! It's interesting seeing how the software evolves.

I always keep the last several installers of programs all programs I download. I get the little pop-up screen in calibre only once per version so I just ignore it and upgrade when I feel like it.

You do know, though, that all past versions of Calibre are still available via sourceforge?

Always updating immediately to the newest version.
Still waiting for the two-column PDF to ePub conversion routine. |

I tend to update very early in the cycle (I like playing with new toys). I also keep the last 2 versions in my D/L dir in case I need to go back (and the servers are overloaded because folks discovered the same: oops
![]() I think, I have only rolled back once. Besides, Early adopters get to enter the "Report the bug contest" ![]() The prize for concise reports? "A fixed version", sooner. |

I try to find out what is new and whether it's worth of updating. So far, I hesitated only a few times but finally updated. The same as theducs, I keep last few versions (just in case) but so far no need to reinstall.

I wait a little while first to see if there are potential issues. To be honest, I am still on 0.7.16.

The last two upgrades demonstrate why I like to wait a short while before upgrading. 0.7.21 was hot on the heels of 0.7.20 to correct bugs (among other things). Now I'm seeing complaints about how the new drag and drop is messing with some users previous workflows. Since some fine tuning has been promised (with Kovid, it's pretty much a given anyway), I haven't been using drag and drop, and 0.7.19 is working just fine for me, methinks I will just wait to see what develops. This is not a complaint about calibre or its developer(s), btw. I still feel calibre is an excellent program. It's also still under development (which is a good thing because it keeps getting better and better, practically weekly; how many commercial programs do you know that do that?) so there are bound to be a few ripples along the way. Even those few ripples are usually corrected in about a week. I'm more than good with that. |

I do tend to update when I notice a new update (mainly from the teleread blog).
However, I don't necessarily *run* calibre as often as every update! So far, I've found calibre to be exceddingly reliable, so have not had any problems (and if I did, I would file a bug). |
