I'm rather surprised no one hasn't added an ePub reader into the K3, the software is available surely (since it's Linux based).

I wouldn't say that the Kindle 3 changed my opinion of Amazon. However, the price point of the Wifi only option did convince me to try one. I still plan to use my Sony PRS-900 as my primary reader since I have many unread ebooks, and I am a frequent user of my local e-library (Overdrive ebooks). I have been accumulating a collection of free Kindle ebooks for awhile just waiting for the price of the reader to drop. Amazon also has a larger selection of newspapers and magazines than the Sony store. I plan to subscribe to my local newspaper and drop the daily print edition. I also like the blog subscriptions as well as the ability to download book samples quickly and easily. Those are the reasons that convinced me to add the K3 to my ereader collection rather than replace any of my devices.

I love my Nook to much and loading library books without any hassles to get them on my reader. Also my library has way more books in e-pub and Adobe than Mobi. The only thing I want on my Nook is collections like my old Sony.

			Hi,

YES! The Kindle 3 has changed my mind about the Kindle. What got me into it? Not the display. The size. Although there is still no significant number of German books in the Kindle Store, the Kindle 3 still not supports epub, and english books are more expensive in Germany than in the U.S. - I love the Kindle 3. ca n't answer because in my opinion it lowered my opinion of the Kindle. The change in ergonomics (buttons and lack of dedicated numbers on the keyboard specifically) are for the worse. Of course Amazon has never had a clue how to design a keyboard, they seem to toss darts at a board and call it good. And the buttons on the very edge that are back to activating with an outward press rather than the inward press is frustrating for many. Pick a behavior and stick to it. The number key thing is just an annoyance and not that bad. But the device has a feel of being being rushed to market to bear Sony. The price is nice, really it is and the graphite case is also very nice. But the buttons are a complete non-starter for me.

And the DXG is also a complete non-starter large format reader as i need my right hand free if I want to do research I need my right hand to take notes, as to, MOST PEOPLE ON THE PLANET. So the buttons on the right side only is a bad decision simply because it restricts my choice as a user. So the last couple Kindle design decisions are somewhat wanting in my opinion. but I still think it's one of the better dedicated readers out there. |

I just can't get past my mental blockage of Amazon being able to remove books at will from a Kindle. Yes they've promised that they won't do that again, but once was too many times for me.

The Kindle 3 looks like a lovely device - too bad it's tied into Amazon. |
