I always thought of his "Witches of Karres" as his best. (I've reread this many
times.) There has been a couple of sequels to that one, put out by fans like
Mercedes Lackey, Eric Flint & Dave Freer.

do you happen to know where I can go there to talk to the publishng guys there? i am a member of the bar, tried several times to contact them via public emails they have listed on their website... received not a single reply thought

I am doing some small publications here as a side job - working with my wife, we publish inserts for local magazines and newspapers here in Poland... I love Baen and their books, starting from John Ringo and all the major league writers they work with down to several I liked as well although never heard about before... mine and wife's idea is to introduce those titles not yet published here in Poland to the readers out here - thus my attempts to contact people from Baen for a partnership terms and details...

any clues how to work that out?

Baen's Bar is a forum. Sort of like this one

Baen the PUBLISHER, is a business, whose address is listed inside each and every book cover. The publisher does hang out at the bar, and taunts the barflies with news of forthcoming goodies

well i am aware of all of the above... since I used the email addresses from books/website several times, I assume they might be not interested in doing business with me... which is sad since they could just state that as in normal b2b relations...

Don't suggest a partnership. What you're looking for seems to be foreign translation/publication rights. I'm not surprised that any email to Baen suggesting a partnership would be ignored.

I suspect this may be a translation problem. A partnership is a formal business arrangement in which two or more people or entities come together to form a joint business, each owning a portion of the business.

If there is ANYTHING to assume, it is that even if they are not interested, they would have written to you back and (courteously) refused the offer.

IMHO it is safer to assume that there is no contact yet. It is on the expensive side, but good old telephone still gives you the personal contact that is appropriate for opening up that channel.

I think you're also assuming that Baen has the right to offer their books in Poland. (That geo-restriction problem.) I believe Baen contracts for global electronic rights, but they might not (probably not) do that for the paper rights. If my belief is true, you'd have to contract with the author and not Baen.

Normally write in Word then use spell checking for everything. Will have to remember to do so from now on. Was a real pain before computers were invented. Back in the 60’s was tagged in high school as having a 3rd grade spelling average. Honors in science but could not spell the words.

Have Mission of Honor – it’s in Word from the Fifth Imperium – which is why I added the PDF converter, should have mentioned it converts to PDF not from it.

It was very politely mentioned in a PM to me that SiFi isn’t used anymore. Can understand things change but that’s the term I grew up with. Hard to break an almost 60 yr old habit. Originally PC meant Programmable Controller.

My library uses SF as section designation and has Science Fiction (Anderson, Wells, and Asimov) in with Science Fantasy (dragons, fairies, and magic). Nothing against fantasy except in recent years about 75% of new books in this section have been SiFan not SiFi. Asked why, was told their reduced budget required then to look at what was checked out, and purchase books that meet that criterion.

Checked out the “similar threads” at the end of my post and see that the oldest link to Baen is from 2003. Didn’t realize readers have been around that long.

Baen has been publishing ebooks since December 1999. (Or you could say September 1999, since that would be when the first 1/4th of the webscription bundle would have been available.)
