Each to their own, But I can't see the point of spending out £149 (3G UK Version) and then skimping on the case. Although I do think the case should be included with the kindle, Even if I had to pay out an extra £10 or £15 for the privilege

I don't understand why people would buy a $139 device and then purchase a $70 cover.

Target has the Belkin Kindle 2 cases on sale for $14.95. Half the price of the same model for the K3.

Ditto, Ditto.

I possibly like the lighted cover more than the Kindle 3 itself.

I can only speak for myself but I really don't need a case. I didn't have one for my K2 (when we gave it to a neighbor, she remarked that it looked like new). I guess it all depends on how you use your Kindle. If you're going to toss it in a backpack with a bunch of books, you'd better have good insurance or a good case. My Kindle pretty much lives on my nightstand, coffee table, my car's passenger seat or in my briefcase. Our dogs usually ignore electronics in favor of shoes, so we're good there and I'm not in the habit of dropping my toys. Hence, no case for me.

I just got an Oberon. Celtic Hounds in Wine. It is beautiful but... I got used to reading my Kindle naked. The craftsmanship is top notch. Really nice leather. Nice felt screen protector. I really want to like it but it just isn't for me. I am in the process of trying to return it. If I can't, I will try to sell it here first.

I also bought my first Oberon, and I agree that it's beautiful. But the wool on the inside picks up every bit of cat hair floating around, and it doesn't really fold back completely flat. I may wait and see the Octovo covers that are coming out, which have the hinge + elastic on one of the outside corners, and sell the Oberon if I find the Octovo more useable.

It's a shame, as the Oberons are certainly beautiful, but after being accustomed to the hinge, I find the elastic on all corners messy and distracting, and the cover not folding back flat is annoying.

I find it kinda counterproductive to buy a 230 grams mobile device and then put it in a 230 grams case.

I rather be more careful with it that carry around something with me which is twice the weight and more than double the thickness of the original.
Of cource, if you are not using it mobile this isn't that much of an issue, but there you do not need a case either.

Might go looking for a metal pencil box in the right shape if I want to put it in a backback with other stuff, but thats pretty much about it what I need as case. No amount of aesthetics of a case can counter for me its weight and size increase of the kindle.

I "double case" my reader. I keep my Sony 505 in the "book cover" case that came with it, then if leaving the house I put it in a PVC pencil case so that it doesn't get accidentally scratched or smooshed in my purse.

I agree wholeheartedly.

How can you resist such a cover? I guess it is a bit of a vanity cover, but I could have wasted my money on a few pints, and I would only have the water residual, that would eventually be waste

Oh, I forgot to add that I did vote and you can guess I own an Oberon cover. All leathery and stuff!

This needs to be a multi-selectable poll, for those of us with more than one Kindle.

I have a Kindle 2 in a cheap e-reader case, and a Kindle 3 with no case.

I currently keep mine in a pink Amazon lighted cover, but im so tempted to make some velcro-on home crafted covers of my own.

Will inform if I ever decide to get crafty and fashionise my kindle ^o^

I have an Aztak EZReader with a great cover. The cover/case from it fits my Kindle 3.
