I have an iPod Touch and an iPad. I prefer to use the iPad for pdf files.

I like my iPod Touch but it is pretty much useless with PDFs. Too small. No real experience with the iPad but it has to be better for this.

Unless the iPod's small size is a really big feature for you, there's no doubt about what's best for reading PDFs: iPad.

For reading novels, I can see why SOME might prefer the iPod with retina display. I have an iPhone 4 and an iPad, and I really do like the retina display and it becomes mix and match for me as to which I'll grab for reading a novel.
However, for PDF's it's no contest. The iPad's size is the overwhelming deciding factor. Now whether you buy the current iPad or wait is really up to you. I'm really surprised you are only getting 2 hours of reading time on your current iPod. Perhaps you buy one of those external battery thingies to tied you over until the next iPad is released. Lee |

I just got my iPodTouch 4th generation and i can read pdf like nothing before (i am using ibook). I finally can get those beautiful books that have been scanned and pdfed.
it is a small screen of course but the zoom is fantastic and the quality of rendering very nice. I am just getting familiar with the Touch, and I am very very happy with it. |
