My bad! Then I guess it's the crystal frequency which is multiplied to the necessary clock speeds.

Maybe this would help (from 350):
Code:

I was hoping for a CPU upgrade from the 600 to the 650. The 600 still gags like crazy on a large ePUB like the NIV Bible from the Sony store. I'd never heard of BogoMIPS, and was pretty surprised by the definition. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BogoMips BogoMips (from "bogus" and MIPS) is an unscientific measurement of CPU speed ... is "the number of million times per second a processor can do absolutely nothing." ![]() -Pie |

Cool. That would look good on a resume: I can accomplish X number of BogoTasks per day.

There must be more to it than processor speed because the 350 is significantly faster than the the 600 in every respect.

Yes, 350. The 350 and the 650 appear to have identical hardware, except for the lack of memory card support and audio on the 350. The 350 is significantly faster than the 600.
I was initially planning to buy a 650 to replace my 600, but the 350 was just too good. It's so small and light, yet very, very readable. With 1.5 GBs of memory, I can't see myself ever using and SD card. And, it's $50 cheaper. |

how can it be significantly faster if it has the same hardware - that does not compute!

Apart from the fact that the post you're quoting is a year old, the last sentence compares the 350 to the 600, not the 650

OK - the start of sentence mentions 350 & 650.... but you are correct.. it oges on to say 350 v 600.
as for year & a half old, the forum software offered it up as a related post to a thread I was engaged in , & I failed to check the date. maybe the forum software should look at dates before suggesting related posts ? |

When you post to a thread in which there's been no activity for 6 months or more, you do get a warning at the bottom of the screen asking you to consider whether you really wish to do so. In this particular case, though, you weren't the person who resurrected this dead-and-buried thread.
