Joining yvanleterrible words: That's the spirit, You wil find one - no trouble. Myself, I made a job out of looking for jobs before I found one. I know how frustrating it is...

Maybe you could put a "virtual" audition up on youtube or somewhere? Then we can all focus our positive thoughts on you more accurately (ok, well, at least we'll get to hear some good music!)
![]() And you never know who might notice you that way.... |

@CommandeROR
What did you play at the audition? I'd like to listen to a version of it. Was it a work of great difficulty? |

I was actually thinking of doing smething like that, I even had done a recording of one of my audition pieces (the Mozart A-major violin concerto) but something went wrong and the camera did not record...but the trouble is that the sound-quality would have been terrible anyway. I have a good mic, but no camera that can connect to it. I can either record proper sound or picture, not both.
The next problem is that I could only record the violin part, without piano/orchestra. This would of course work, but it gives am unsatisfactory result. @yvanleterrible: My Audition pieces are the abovementioned Mozart A-Major violin concerto and the Tchaikovsky D-Major converto (first movement only usually in both cases). The Mozart is always the "first round" piece, if you get to thesecond round, then you are allowed to play the other concerto (I did not get that far this time). In most auditions (but not the one yesterday) you are then (if you do well in the second round) allowed to progress to the third round where you are asked to play "orchestral excerpts", difficult passages from various operas and symphonies, like the Bartered Bride, Don Juan, Figaro or Siegfried. |

Hm. We need to find a) someone with a good camera with high quality mic input and b) a piano accompianist who also is looking for exposure, both in your area. This seems like a problem the internet ought to be able to help solve, though MR may not be the most direct forum for the purpose.
![]() I could probably arrange both, but I'm a couple of thousand miles from where you are. ![]() |

Hi Folks,
I could not make a video for you (I tried, but there were too many problems) so I did a mp3 recording of both my audition pieces (the whole first movement Mozart and the first half Tchaikowsky) with my trusty iRiver H340. The recording is not optimal of course, just a quick "practise take" of both pieces in one of the little practise rooms in our university. No piano either, just the violin part. I hope you enjoy it anyway. I'll upload both files to my (seldom used) webspace. Hope it works OK. The links are: www.awde-sign.de/mobileread/mozart.mp3 www.awde-sign.de/mobileread/tchaikowsky.mp3 |

Thanks so much for sharing this with us! I know I'm not an expert and can't comment in any helpful way on the quality at the level you're auditioning for, but I can say I genuinely enjoyed listening.
![]() Out of curiosity, when you audition, do they provide an accompanist? (I'm guessing they want to be able to hear you well enough that they don't want the whole orchestra, but what do I know?) |

Hey thanks for posting those files! Wow. Wonderful!
I go by two very non-technical things: 1) Do I enjoy listening to it? 2) What's the chills ratio? I.e. are there many parts that give me chills as I hear it? I guess I didn't know what to expect, and I definitely don't know anything about quality of performance. But I know what I like, and I loved it! I just wish I could hear with the other parts. That Mozart piece is even sort of addictive! When you end up in your permanent job, you'll definitely have to give us a way to hear you play more!!! It's funny how certain versions of classical music hit you so differently. I can listen to one piece or one symphony performance, even by a top notch synphony orchestra, and be bored. But then I hear a particular recording, and it just delights me and tickles my fancy. I don't know why that is, but it sure makes classical music fun sometimes! ;-) |
