No; the EU is "life + 70". But MobileRead's servers are in Canada, and Canada is a "life + 50" country. Hence, MR can host Chandler's works from 1st Jan next year, although obviously nothing who does not live in a "life + 50" country can legally download them.

Are you sure? In France they say that is just for NATIONAL writers, for non national ones the Berne Convention still stands, where it's life plus 50.

So Chandler would be PD outside the US.

Not sure if the UK is the same.

The UK is "life + 70" (with a few oddball exceptions) for everything.
