Halk, the original poster was banned for spamming, not for raising any religious issue. We've been bothered with a lot of two-part spams emanating from India. The first message asks inocuously about finding religious books. The next day another new member posts a link to a spam site selling poor-quality religious books.
This was the first of the bunch. A number of real members had replied, so we left the thread alone (apart from banning the spammers). There have been about 8 or 10 in others in a similar vein. Mostly we've managed to ban and delete them quickly, so you may not have noticed.
So feel free to post on related matters here.

The God Delusion isn't available as an electronic book, except on Kindle. Is it possible to use Kindle books without a Kindle?
Unfortunately, no, you must have a kindle registered to your amazon account to be able to buy kindle books.

Ah, clever spam. Glad they're banned

As for the Kindle thing, well, I guess they'll eventually release them as Mobi books. It's rather poor form of Amazon to restrict things to Kindle before they release them on other formats. As I understand if they have a Kindle copy it'd take seconds to create a Mobipocket copy.

You are of course correct, but, nonetheless, that is the version of the Bible that is conventionally referred to as the "King James Version" or (more commonly in the UK) the "Authorised Version", and it is, as I say, protected by a perpetual copyright in the UK, although not elsewhere.

The 1611 version has some interesting spelling. A quick search of KJV in the Google images section shows some samples.

Yes, that was certainly at the time when spelling was still very much a matter of personal preference, rather than being "fixed". Another good example of that is Shakespeare's "First Folio" which was published 12 years later, in 1623.
