I cancelled my Kindle Fire order earlier this week...just couldn't get my head around a closed ecosystem. But for my use, the ability to expand storage outside of the cloud is a must have.

Nice, though the Nook Tablet still has better hardware and to be honest, rooting takes such little effort that the whole "out of the box" thing is a bit overplayed (for me anyway). 15 minutes to be able to access more than either device can stock, and STILL have better hardware? Yup, that's the way I'd go.

How long do you think it will take to root it?

Anyone know the version of Android the new Nook Tablet is based on?
I hope both the Nook Tablet and Kindle Fire succeed. It will be better for us consumers. More bang for the buck at a decent price. If there was only 1 product out there, I doubt if we would see or get half of what we'll get with two successful products. |

Thing is, the guys rooting make SD cards now that you just slam in the slot and you're done. Nothing techie about it.
But what you said goes back to something else someone said before, people have already decided the Fire is going to be perfect, yet they demand no one make a statement about how good the Nook Tablet will be because no one has any user experience with it yet. Well, no one does with the Fire either. Hell, I think they'll both be great but I really don't like the double standard. |
