Not really, but to each of his/her own I guess. Hahaha. I used to be so adamant about buying Butterfingers because I always thought they weren't worth it, but I've changed my mind after one afternoon of hunger and it was the only snack left in my fridge. I kept on mixing it with my coffee after that.

Coffee-dipped butterfingers... I think you've just re-invented the base for a good tiramisu!

EDIT: Wait!! That's Ladyfingers, not Butterfingers! KK is right... Peanut butter and coffee? Yetch!

Right now it's an after-dinner cup of Viang Joom On's 'English Breakfast' tea as we head into the night!

Eh, different strokes for different folks. If it is a combo that she likes then good for her. It sounds very sweet but there are days that would hit the spot for me. There are people who have tried some of my teas and thought that I am crazy for drinking it.

Take Pu erh for example or lapsong, they are well outside the norm of what tea tastes like and many folks struggle with them. I could care less what they think. So let her drink her drink and enjoy it without being so snobbish about it.

Have you been having a bad day? I think you may be taking our comments too seriously... Lighten up.
You've been here long enough to know that we ALL have different tastes... and we all know it. We don't need to be reminded of the fact. I won't touch a single malt with a 10ft pole but Charlie will, and Charlie probably won't drink my Bombay Sapphire on a dare. We are ALL different. But think back to the days that YOU ribbed (I can't remember the name right now, but back when you were pregnant) who wouldn't touch Pu erh. We are all different and we know it. Lighten up and stop calling names. You've done the very same yourself.

Time for a glass of Bombay Sapphire on the rocks.

Yeah, but I think Lin2412 is newish to the thread, and we were pretty hard on HER by saying her drink was too sweet. So don't jump on the second level of negative talkers, jump on the FIRST level of them, which is the ones talking to Lin 2412. (This is getting confusing!)
Lin2412, you are welcome to you very sweet drink. I don't want to drink it either, but you are welcome to it!

PS I bought a Pu-ErH sampler box because of you people. I hated every one of them!

Well, I can't imagine why anyone would drink Bombay Sapphire, while turning his nose up at good single malt, but then, it does take all kinds.

For me, now, it's all about the tea. Oh, I like coffee, and I certainly like my fresh squeezed OJ. I even sort of like this cranberry juice I'm forced to since I gave up sodas. But tea? Tea I obsess about.

So, this morning was Peet's Anniversary Breakfast Blend, which has become my favourite morning tea, but this afternoon, it's about to be Curled Dragon Silver Tip (Pan Long Yin Hao), a really excellent spring green tea from the Zhejiang province.

While we're questioning people's drinks .... a few drinks/posts back .... is there really a difference between whiskey and whisky ? Naive reader wants to know.

Whiskey usually refers to American (Bourbon, Rye, Tennessee) or Irish Whiskey. Whisky, OTOH, is the correct spelling for Scotch, Canadian or Japanese whisky. Even the NY Times finally agreed that what I drink is a single malt whisky, after having insisted for years and years that all should be spelled whiskey.

As to why the differences? As easily ask why Americans favor the spellings "color", "fiber" and "center", while Canadians and Brits favour the spellings "colour", "fibre", and "centre".

There's something happening here
But what it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware

I think it's time we stop
Children, what's that sound?
Everybody look - what's going down?

Good morning, everyone. Happy Thursday! We were out walking to the street market at 6am this morning, almost no cars in the streets, but the market was jammed to the rafters with shoppers, monks collecting their daily alms, and vendors selling everything from soup to shampoo, mushrooms to mini-skirts. They'll all be gone by 10am when the regular shops open up.

Oh my! Personally, I'd be absolutely crushed if someone even suggested that my drink was too sweet, much less came right out and said it. Absolutely crushed.

Not just crushed, but beaten right into the ground.... What ever shall I do to recover? I know! I'll have a second mug of Taylors of Harrogate's "Yorkshire" tea and pray that no one laughs at me. Good stuff, this tea! My wife brought back another big bag of it from her trip so I'm set for a while.

Have any of you tasted Suntory Scotch, Japan's contribution to the line-up. Scotch can be an evil-tasting brew on the best of days (try and keep a stiff upper lip, you Scotch drinkers) but Suntory takes the beverage to new depths. Suntory company has a municipal lock on Japanese liquor stores, and they are ubiquitous, filled with nothing but Suntory products and other brands of sake and souchu; Suntory Scotch, rum, gin, bourbon, etc., all the usual suspects, and each is worse than the one before. If you want other brands, one has to buy them from import stores rather than from the liquor shops. I made the mistake when I first landed in Japan of buying Suntory rum... After one small glass I moved it to the medicine cabinet to be used for disinfecting wounds. I'm sure Charlie's and Pooh's 'Talisker,' 'Laphroaig,' and 'Lagavulin' wouldn't even permit themselves to be in the same room with Suntory!

I've never tasted Suntory Scotch - but Bill Murray seemed to enjoy it in "Lost in Translation"
