The restaurant next door forgot to turn down/off the ventilation system which is noisy again. So I had to put in my earplugs again and now I have itchy ears. It's another week at most before the thing is replaced, but hopefully the won't forget to turn it down/off anymore, I never sleep well with earplugs in. I wouldn't have minded another power outage, one that lasted until just before my alarm went off.

Can you go across and visit the restaurant, just before you go to bed? (Or just before they close, whichever is earlier.) Yeah, you should not have to do this, but if it's helpful ..... Perhaps even one such visit would be all that's needed.

I had planned to give them a call last night. However, they turned it doen an hour earlier than normal, so it wasn't needed. The thing has been noisy just over a month, and Friday night was the first time they forgot to turn it down. Hopefully it'll be fixed before the weekend.

LOL.
A new unit is on the way, but it's a special size so it wasn't in stock and had to be ordered. It should have arrived/arrive some time this week and should be installed either at the end of this week or the first half of next week. I'm keeping my finger's crossed that it'll be replaced this week. If not, I'm keeping my finger's crossed that they don't forget to turn it down on Sunday night, otherwise it'll be two noisy nights since they're closed on Monday.

Several phone calls later and still no resolution. The CSRs can't do anything about this and say they will notify someone else. And that someone else hasn't done anything either.

On the other hand, Microsoft Rewards customer service has been exceptional. Two follow up emails asking if I have everything I need and if Amazon has returned the gift cards.

(if the say that bezos does react to them isn't only a rumour)

Agreed. It's time to email Jeff. Let him know how upset you are about this and getting the run around by his support team.

Recently in our Kindle forum others couldn't register their Kindle 1 or 2 after getting the run around a few emailed Jeff and they fixed the problem.

I'd ask for the phone number for the owner of the restaurant next door (or a manager) that can come in and turn off that noisy ventillation system if they close up and leave it running. Especially for 2 days when they know it makes your bedroom noisy.

A little freaked out. I just got a call from State Farm in Tennessee. The insurance agent we used wanting to sell us insurance.

Now here's the weird part. We haven't had them since 2010 and they call asking for my husband. Now here's the even more weird part. They called my cell number. A number I've never given out to anyone. A number that's in my mom's name.

. How the hockey sticks did Brandy get my number!?!

The reason we left was Brandy harassed us if we were 24 hours late with payment. We are talking phone calls, emails even text messages. We left and went with GEICO and now are with USAA.

I'm dumbfounded.

We are in Missouri and my number is local. Very freaky!

Waiting for my heater to cool down enough to switch it back on.

In both autumn and spring, when the temperatures are chilly but not yet low I have this problem with my gas heater that it switches itself off (not to pilot light, but totally off) when it's been heating for a while. Sometimes the room isn't warmer than 16C when it switches off. When it's cold outside I can easily get it to heat up to 20C without it switching off. I assume it does so to prevent overheating, but it's strange that it doesn't happen when it's colder. And it's annoying. I have to wait until it cools down enough before I can turn the pilot light on. The previous one did exactly the same thing, so it isn't a defect.
