Finally, after 5 days of no decent tea, I'm in the office and drinking Peet's Anniversary Breakfast Blend. Yumm. And I've got tins of Peet's Holiday Breakfast Blend, English Breakfast Blend and Dragon Mountain Oolong in the car, headed home tomorrow to replenish my supplies.

Ah, for just one time I would take the Northwest Passage
To find the hand of Franklin reaching for the Beaufort Sea;
Tracing one warm line through a land so wide and savage
And make a Northwest Passage to the sea.

Westward from the Davis Strait 'tis there 'twas said to lie
The sea route to the Orient for which so many died;
Seeking gold and glory, leaving weathered, broken bones
And a long-forgotten lonely cairn of stones.

Ah, for just one time I would take the Northwest Passage
To find the hand of Franklin reaching for the Beaufort Sea;
Tracing one warm line through a land so wide and savage
And make a Northwest Passage to the sea.[/quote]

The man would have been king had he lived...

Good morning, everyone. Miracle of miracles, the rain stopped last night, just in time for the festival parade, and to allow us all to send up our Khum Loi and set our Krathongs adrift with wishes for the coming year. The crowds were thick and happy around the main plazza in the Old City, but the balloons and fireworks filled the sky, going up from every direction around Chiang Mai. And this year, because of the rain, there were virtually no fires started from balloons getting trapped in trees, electric wires, or on people's roofs!

This was from last year. This year I was shooting video, and still haven't mastered the editing software yet. I'm getting close, but there's still more to learn. So this morning I'll be drinking Ahmad's "English Breakfast" tea while watching tutorials and working my way through the program. There's an entirely new language required for video... Why do they call it a 'ripple edit' instead of 'cut and replace!'

My wife left for Japan yesterday with a half-empty suitcase and a long list of teas to bring back. I'm just about out of all of my East India Company teas, and the shipping from them is about $75. It's almost cheaper to fly to Japan and buy them!

Getting down the bottom of the available tea supply is not a good thing at all. I'm replenishing the two I'm really low on, and getting my first taste of this year's Holiday Breakfast Blend. Which needs to supplement the English Breakfast to get me to next year's Anniversary Breakfast Blend.

But now, another glass of cranberry juice. I managed to stay away from the Diet Coke (or any other pop) the whole time I was at the conference, which is huge. I think I might just be going to make it this time...

It's scary. I feel like a junkie who's running out of his stash. Fortunately, I'm not running out of good tea, just running out of East India Company brand teas, oh... and 'Yorkshire' tea from Taylors of Harrogate. But my wife can get them all easily enough in Japan, and bring them back when she returns. I still have plenty of unbranded Keemun, Helladiv's 'Ceylon' tea, and lots of Viang Joom On's 'English Breakfast' tea, to say nothing of all the lower shelf teas. I've got nothing to worry about. I'll just keep saying that to myself... I've got nothing to worry about. I've got nothing to worry about. I've got nothing to worry about. I've got nothing to worry about...

I know the feeling, Stitchawl.

So, in my cup this morning, Peet's Holiday Breakfast Blend tea. To quote from the Peet's site about it:
Quote:
This year’s blend contains fresh lots from Darjeeling’s second flush, teas that are brisk, floral and winy. The blend’s smooth and creamy mouthfeel comes from a select lot of Keemun held in reserve since last year, bolstered with Yunnan gold-tipped leaf from southern China.
The Yunnan adds a noticeable and characteristic sourness to the nose, balancing out the floral notes of the Darjeeling. Can't pick up any of the Keemun in the nose, though the overall taste and mouthfeel is quite smooth and full - the Keemun would definitely be a factor there. Overall, a 4 out of 5, I'd say. Good, not great, but should hold me until spring and Anniversary Breakfast Blend, though I still have some left from last spring.

A long delayed first mug of tea, although I had a quick cup for the road earlier. But, this one involves sitting down and enjoying it.

Trader Joe's Spiced Chai. (Not the mix in the can, but the tea bags.) It smells like potpourri.

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good ol' way
And who shall wear the robe & crown?
Good Lord show me the way

O brothers let's go down
Let's go down, come on down
Come on brothers, let's go down
Down in the river to pray

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good ol' way
And who shall wear the starry crown?
Good Lord show me the way

O fathers let's go down
Let's go down, come on down
O fathers let's go down
Down in the river to pray

I often wish I was a Christian... They've got the best music! Nobody's ever said "Hey! That's great Taoist music, isn't it!" have they!

Good morning, everyone! Happy Sunday! Hey! I just realized... Today marks the anniversary of when I asked my very first 'real' girlfriend to 'go steady!' I was 16 years old then. Three years later she dumped me for a cashier at a discount department store. She's still married to the guy!

Ahmad's "English Breakfast" tea this morning, and I continue to learn to edit video. I thought I was finished with my 'First Movie,' a documentary about our Fencing Tournament in Bangkok a few weeks ago... until I saw the 'finished' product... and decided to start over from scratch. There is just SOOOO much that needs to be done to video. I have an entirely new respect for the people who edit feature films. Now I understand why they use teams of people to do it, and why the credits are so long! My finished piece was 12 minutes long and took me all week to do.

One more cup of tea, and back to work!
