You have never seen an abattoir have you, the killing of any animal is messy, I mean philosophically as well as literally. I have never had an issue with doing the hard part when there was a good reason for doing it. Like may 5 year old daughter said "If God didn't want us to eat meat, they wouldn't taste so good!"

One thing to remember in the seal hunts is that less than 10,000 are taken per year and there is very little waste.

As I said before I think the world could easily do without the hunts, but I don't make my living that way.

Nevermind! I found an answer already: YES. ABSOLUTELY.

fifth telephone interview, god did these guys get their MBA from the Molasses in January University. Man I chose a wife faster than these people. How many times/ways can they ask you, "What can you bring to our company?"

The worst part is I have spoken to 4 different people, the first 3 were junior people that didn't even know the position they were interviewing candidates for, they were from an agency, not the actual company. I told the COO who called me the last couple of times that they really should look at getting a better agency! He agreed, maybe that why I still have more phone interviews to go.

Well, the point of the job is to know about talking on the phone, eh?

in the corner of the kitchen is a partial case of soda pop. it's Thomas Kemper microbrew; rootbeer, black cherry, blood orange and cream soda. I don't drink very much soda, but when I do I like really good soda. I got this case in October... maybe November. it doesn't get used much so it kind of becomes a fixture. currently there is a partially empty 50 pound bag of potatoes on it. during the course of any given day Strider and Arwen will bounce off of anything that is even a remotely stationary target. the potatoes were obviously a target today and got shifted. Arwen's attention was caught by the fluttery edge of the bag so she started whacking at it. all of a sudden, the bag started dispensing potatoes much like a pez dispenser much to her delight. potatoes are kind of round and certainly a great deal of fun to be chased about on the floor. they are even more fun to bounce off of the dog. who likes potatoes. so I now have Arwen operating the potato dispensing pez bag, playing with them and subsequently feeding a very happy Newfie.

ahhhhh the cycle of life.... or silliness on a small farm... or something....

Real life is so much funnier than made-up stuff!

I had something similar happen yesterday when I picked up an open bag of apples by the wrong end. Gus ran away, but Lori chased an apple up under the table. She didn't know what to do with it when she caught it, though!

apples would have worked as well! it is funny how they respond to the "not quite right" wobbliness of the *toys*

i don't like the killing of seals as well and some people just do it for sport! i wonder how they'd feel if they were the ones being hunted and put down, a spear through their legs and left in the ice to slowly bleed and die.
