Give me about 15 minutes and it'll be a somewhat large-ish glass of zinfandel.

![]() That, and drinking Jack. Hard to tell the difference betweem 'em! We were riding through on our way to and from Sturgis several different years. It's amazing I remember any of it. Right now, a delightful cup of unbranded Keemun tea as I get ready to assault Adobe Premiere Pro yet again. Or, rather, get assaulted by it! ![]() Stitchawl |

By awful food I mean two pieces of beef that were boiled, four potatoes and some cabbage. Rinse and repeat for three weeks. It was the same food and bad the entire time. Limited water because it had to be boiled and chilled before we could drink it so bad food and a ton of Pepsi.
We were so excited when we got to Budapest because there was a McDonalds that we could eat. On my first trip to Russia I had a meal with a family my teacher had introduced me to. They offered liver pasta because that was the meat they could get. I was visiting during the Cold War, Soviet Union and the like so lack of food choices and very few private restaurants. Nothing that a group of high school students could have afforded if our chaperones would have let us venture out. |

Just as good Mexican chorizo is a blend of different chiles, good Basque chorizo is a blend of paprikas. (And sometimes, here in the new world, some chiles too. Also, like Mexican, it tends to be not particularly hot. The premise being you add heat to the dish as appropriate, but leave the sausage relatively mild. |

My second mug of tea, following my usual large oatmeal. (Not nearly up to the standards of a good chorizo -- of any persuasion -- but much better than "liver pasta!")

![]() By a line that he drew with his sword as the battle drew nigh A man that crossed over the line was for glory And he that was left better fly And over the line crossed 179 Jim Bowie lay dying, his blood and his powder were dry But his knife at the ready to take him a few in reply Young Davy Crockett lay laughing and dying The blood and the sweat in his eyes For Texas and freedom no man was more willing to die Hey Up Santa Anna, they're killing your soldiers below So the rest of Texas will know And remember the Alamo ![]() ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeUbEGyu6XQ ) Yes, it's that time again... Another big tournament down in Bangkok this weekend, and we're spending extra time in the Fencing Salle getting ready for it. All-day practice today... This competition is being sponsored by Chulalongkorn University, the oldest university under the Thai modern educational system, one of the best universities Southeast Asia according to several university rankings. Over 30,000 students! It's an open International tournament, which should attract well over 400 fencers from around the world. Unfortunately, they aren't fielding a Veterans division so I'll be fighting against the young guys this time... National team members from several different countries... guys in their 20's and 30's... guys who can still get out of an easy chair without grunting or groaning... Should be great fun, but no medals to bring home this trip. I can live with that. ![]() Starting today off with a mug of Twinings "Prince of Wales" tea, never one of my top shelf picks in the past, but someone gave me a tin of it yesterday and I thought I'd crack it open. I'm pleasantly surprised... I think they have changed the blend a bit. Nice combination of Keemun, Assam, and Ceylon teas... All of my favorites put together in a workable formula. ![]() Quote:
