They would just be better off figuring out how to get the key from the current K4PC and import that into DeDRM. That should solve the problem.

I'd take a chance on DeDRM working if it had the correct key. Besides, I have nothing to lose.

Exactly. True for all systems. You need the keys(s) and the specific algorithm (more than just the family).

However the weak point of ALL DRM, unlike a standalone encrypted message, is that the consumer gadget must actually have the key and the algorithm in it. Also ultimately the "analogue" consumption (point a camera etc).

DRM is plain evil and mainly inconveniences law abiding consumers.

Chance has nothing to do with it.

Kindle for PC 2.4.1 already had a new DRM algorithm. Even though the key was still available back then from kinf2018 files, it was useless without cracking the algorithm.

Version 2.7 adds another layer to the DRM protection by better protecting the key using kinf2024. But even if that is decoded so that the key again becomes available it will not solve the problem that prevented DeDRM from working with version 2.4.1.

Yes, Amazon has a history of keeping extra DRM algorithms in reserve, ready to be enabled immediately when they find out that the DRM currently in use has been broken.

Exactly. The earliest version of KFX DRM was around for quite a while before it was figured out. A solution only appeared when it started becoming harder to avoid. Then it was still a bit before it was integrated into DeDRM.
