And there's no way to get around "In My Library". I thought I checked all the possibilities. Looks like I only checked without narration titles and failed to check with narration titles. I know it works for public libraries and it should work for KU titles without narration.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I'll have to go back and modify the "borrowing" post.

Could it be that if the borrow from KU does not come with narration then you can buy the audible and keep it forever, but if it comes with (free) narration, then you can only borrow and must return the Audible? Hmm.

Thanks for mulling this through with me. It seems like a flaw in Amazon's thinking since I would have parted with the $1.99 in order to have the audiobook as a permanent item (as permanent as these things can be).

And I agree, Piepan, stink!

Well, KU is a new venture on their part so maybe everything is still getting figured out.

Another flaw is that if you already own a Kindle book that has become a KU with narration book, you can't now borrow the book to get the free narration.

New Forums -- Public Libraries & Audiobooks

Any chance we can get two new forums - Public Libraries and Audiobooks?

Public Libraries could be a sub-forum in General Discussions.

Audiobooks could be a forum in E-Book Readers.

These are both major categories and discussions on each get scattered all over the board. Consolidation would greatly improve understanding, access, and use of these technologies by the members of MobileRead; especially new members.

If a forum ever happens, it would be great. In the meantime, I have no problem discussing everything audiobook (outside of "What are we Listening to?") in this thread.

I've been working on putting free audio books and old radio shows on MP3 players for old people (I'm old; everybody I know is old) to use when bed-bound, but they're having trouble with the clunky menu system.

I had planned to use Sansa Clip Sport, which works great except that a lot of old people can't navigate it easily, and it turns out Rockbox won't work on this exact MP3 player.

This would be cheaper and easier all around, if I cold get librivox books and archive.org old time radio mp3 files on it. Any suggestions for this project would be appreciated, thanks.

I just noticed that Best Buy has some no-contract phones on sale this week, including this Android 4.0 Samsung Galaxy Rush for only $30. I don't know anything about it, but it looks like it would work for your purposes.

Alas for me, Audible seems to always now I'm not a real new customer. Those offers never work for me
