For me whenever I would feel out of control is when they would hit. No I know how to keep them from happening. It's a lot of trial and error in finding what works for you. Sent from my Nexus 7 |

For a week now I have both a painful hip and sore ribs. I put the painful hip down to a pulled muscle; last week I did a lot of heavy and awkward lifting and I cycled with very strong headwind. The sore ribs I put down to me sleeping in a different position than normal due to my hip.
However, last night one of the nearby cafés had their music on really loud and I put in my earplugs. And I noticed that my heart rate was a bit higher than normal. Not a lot, but still. And I realized I was having a sneaky anxiety attack. I've had one before, it isn't like a normal anxiety attack where breathing can get difficult and my heart rate shoots up. But with a sneaky one I breath shallower than normal, I obviously tensed the muscles around my ribs, hence the sore ribs. The other time I had a sneaky attack my leg also hurt, albeit a bit lower down. Eventually it turned into a full anxiety attack and caused me to go to the doctor. Who explained that the pain (and tingling, which I don't have now) in my leg was down to the shallow breathing. So I'm now trying to regulate my breathing and have my body relax. I'll expect it'll take a couple of days before I get it under control and hopefully the pain in my hip will disappear. An full blown anxiety attack is easier to get under control than this type of attack, because it's so subtle. |

Have you been tested for GERD? Your symptoms sound very similar to what I go through without my Nexium. GERD isn't acid reflux or heartburn although it can cause it. It can seem like a panic attack. Chest tight, breathing shallow, pain in arms, legs, back. I even get it on the back my skull. A full blown attack feels like the flu. I went years undiagnosed. They told me it was part of anxiety sent me home with downers. It wasn't until it progress into acid reflux did I get a proton pump inhibitor prescribed. Within two weeks all pain gone, no more so called anxiety attacks. That was in 2008.

Spoiler:
I paid attention to my breathing today and my chest isn't as tight anymore and even my leg isn't as painful as previous days (though that could also be down to some extra painkillers, though yesterday they didn't work). My weekend has started just now and for the next two days I haven't planned to do much. So I can rest, relax and do some breathing exercises. |

Not really a vent or rant but I had to laugh at the this article with the recent discussion about introverts still in my mind. I just want them all.

Isn't there some sort of a discussion thread somewhere? I see people (including me) sometimes use the V&R thread for discussing all sorts of subjects.
Maybe it would even be an option to have a more serious non-reader related subforum for general discussions, without the games/unutterably silly stuff from the lounge? |

Long ago it was this way. This would usually be a lounge topic.
And yes there was a topic on introversion derived from the an old psychology today article "revenge of an introvert" https://www.psychologytoday.com/arti...-the-introvert and the book "Quiet" both by Susan Cain Last edited by Freeshadow; 10-20-2016 at 12:08 PM. I think that if I'd go and try to classify myself somewhere on the scale of [introvert]===============[extravert], then I'd fall off of the left end. |
