![]() I'm here to rest All they ask is where I've been Knowing I've been West I'm the family's unowned boy Golden curls of envied hair Pretty girls with faces fair See the shine in the Black Sheep Boy ![]() ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMESDbBHG2c ) Good morning, everyone! Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home. Where else can I get such a good variety of tea for my breakfast? This morning I chose East India Company's "Royal Breakfast" tea to go along with the Food Lady's offerings. Sure beats the hotel breakfasts for the past few days! Fortunately I brought along my Super-duper Energy bars, and I had one of those each morning instead. Two hours later and I was bouncing off the walls! Kept me going from 8am until 2pm, when I grabbed some Heladiv English Breakfast tea and some store-bought supposed 'energy' bars that are mostly sugars... one of those every half hour got me through the rest of the afternoon. A big Cesare Salad, iced tea, and a pizza for dinners finished the day. I must have burned up 4,000-5,000 calories every day 'cuz I came home lighter that when I left! No sport like fencing to get the weight off fast and still enjoy doing it! All data is from the Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise journal, the official journal of the American College of Sports Medicine. If you weigh roughly 180 pounds: 490 calories burned per hour Stitchawl |

Good pic, Stitchawl.
This morning I'm enjoying some more of my Peet's Anniversary Breakfast Blend tea. I'm nearly out, and the web site shows them sold out. This is not good. However, there's a Peet's shop in Redmond, and they might just have some still. The manager there really liked last year's Anniversary Breakfast Blend, and so ordered a BUNCH and had it into the fall. Hopefully she still feels the same way, since this year's is so very close to last year's. |

Last year a friend on a beach trip brought me back a tacky souvenir mug - pink with cat faces on it - that has turned out to be a gem of a gift - it's a very large double wall thermal mug that I fill with ice cubes and pour water or a soft drink over ... and it takes forever for the ice cubes to melt - insuring a perpetual cold sip.
![]() But the best feature? It is so big (think plastic beer stein) and stable that Stella cat has been unable to knock it over - she has the habit of falling asleep atop the back of my recliner - where she relaxes so completely she falls off - usually onto the side table. ![]() |

Right now, tea #3 as I try to unwind from my new full-time job -- weeding and chopping wisteria.
In a similar vein, poohbear_nc, I got a lead-free cast pewter mug (tankard?). When I was younger I'd keep it in the freezer and (on the hottest days of summer) take it out, fill it with beer, and drink on the back deck with the hibachi (cooking chicken, I'm afraid) and whatever had just come in from the Science Fiction Book Club. I may have to dig it back out and claim a corner of the freezer. Never had to worry about cats or dogs, though. |

I have a pair of Contigo mugs. One for tea, the other for cold beverages, including soda pop. With an ice cube or two, it will keep the pop cold for hours and hours. 8 hours later there will still be ice in it. And the mug absolutely will not spill. Even with a carbonated drink. I've tried a zillion mugs over the years. Nothing even comes close.

poohbear_nc: Compelling, very compelling. My first one was a gift, actually, so it was free too. And used to have a Peet's logo on it. It was Xmas red, and my DW got an Xmas green one at the same time. But I wanted to keep the red one for tea, so bought a second in Eggplant Purple. And I'm now seriously considering getting a third for coffee, since I seem to be drinking more and more coffee again these days.
Right now? Ice water. |

![]() 'Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be, And when we find ourselves in the place just right, 'Twill be in the valley of love and delight. When true simplicity is gain'd, To bow and to bend we shan't be asham'd, To turn, turn will be our delight, Till by turning, turning we come 'round right. ![]() ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWTDgc96bg8 ) Such simplicity, such peace... Good morning, everyone. Happy Friday! Cool breeze this morning makes sitting here at the computer feel as if I'm on a lake shore in the forest, so I cobbled up an 'atmosphere' background sound of small waves, a campfire, some woodland birds, frogs, and gentle wind rustling the trees. Throw in a big mug of East India Company's "Royal Breakfast" tea and I have the perfect start to my day! Gotta put in some time today looking for maps... Not so easy to find good 'accurate' detailed maps of Thailand's north-east jungle region that borders with Laos. We want to spend several days exploring next week, but being sure not to cross into Laos. There are several National Parks along the border, but almost no accurate topographical maps due to security issues around border conflicts. I have a good hand-held GPS but no good map datum for this region, and there is sparse cell coverage so even the various mapping apps for my iPhone might not always be available. It will be an interesting walk in the jungle! Stitchawl |
