Thanks all for the words of encouragement. We are still in the initial shock stage - I'm sure things are going to get more "interesting" as time progresses.

Interesting is a good way to describe it. It sucks and if you are not close by it sucks even worse. I felt like crap because I wasn't there to help my Dad. I did go home after the surgery, I wanted to be there for the surgery but Mom wanted me after the surgery. I respected her wishes and went after the surgery.

Chemo rooms tend to be cold so I got my Mom some funny fuzzy socks that were warm and soft and comfy and cute. My Aunt got her a special blanket, cozy, warm, easy to carry and pretty. She used her DX a lot. I would imagine that something like a tablet for chemo trips and hospital stays would be wonderful.

I can't imagine having cancer because watching fron the side lines sucked really, really bad

As someone who has experienced both sides of this particular coin I can tell you it sucks no matter what.

Provide all the support you can Orlok. Some people prefer to push others away during times like this and try to take it all on by themselves. Don't let them. There will be good days and bad days. Never underestimate the power of positive thinking.

A late start indeed, cromag. I'm already moving past my tea for the day, and settling in to diet coke time. At least until it's late enough to switch to Talisker to celebrate my first actual _paycheque_ in >12 years.

Yep. Spent wa-aaa-ay too much time trying to get two pieces of software to do what I wanted them to do (and which they really are supposed to do). Surely you can relate!

Oh, yeah, I can relate! I really wish software vendors would actually make software that matches their marketing. I know, it's a hopeless wish, but, hey, a fella has to have some fantasies.
