Upgrading this PC will be hard because of the older motherboard. So if I wanted to upgrade it would be expensive. So I'm now looking for a new computer because if my father takes my old one he pays me €100-€150 for it.

My father always buys cheaper PCs but he has to be new ones more often because upgrading is harder (older motherboard). I usually buy computers with newer parts and mine last over twice as long because I can upgrade the graphic card or add extra memory more easily.

Now I have to start look into into processors and graphic cards to find the best deal.

I'm contemplating picking up an iPad2 for my PDF reading when it starts selling in Canada next week. I've bought a lot of new techno-gadgets lately, though, so I probably should hold out a bit.

I've the first version of the Ipad, and that does a good job on PDF's with Goodreader. The iPad2 isn't that much improved from what I hear: yes camera and such. But the same screen. And only 60 gram less weight than the first. And the first version is cheaper now.

Yes, I'm considering the first iPad, too, but I think I would like the camera on the iPad 2 though, for Skype (if it can use Skype, I have to look into that). I had the Kindle DXG in mind as well, but I think I'd probably be better off with the iPad.

Yes, Skype would work on the iPad2 , I think. But on the iPad first version, you could only have the voice-chat version of Skype.

I have Skype on my iPhone now. It works very well for free international calls. No camera, of course, but I really don't need people to see me when I talk. I just wish I knew it was available back over New Years when I ran up such a high phone bill using my iPhone in the US.

I'm currently staring at the mess on my desk, and thinking of how I need to get it into the pretty file cabinet I bought last weekend so I will FINALLY have enough room to hook up my new photo scanner.

I'm also actively ignoring the fact that I really should be doing my taxes.

Skype is an absolute blessing!

We have family scattered around the world, and it has saved us a small fortune in 'phone calls.

I find it amazing that usually Skype is clearer sounding than the telephone! And when you add video to it, it really removes the 'phone' feeling and turns it back into a conversation.
