I was surprised yesterday.
I had to do some medical checks before seeing consultant. Some of the checks were weight and height.
Apparently, I am not 174cm as I was made to believe for the last 7 years since they admitted me to the local surgery, but 177cm as I used to think when they measured me before drafting to the Army. Almost, almost 5'10"
Thus 75kg is not as bad. Then again, I am always being realistic. The numbers have not changed the size and ugliness of the perpetual spare tyre.

Good luck in shifting that 6kg or so. I'm 1.80m tall, and I'm trying to lose my last 3kg or so to get my weight down to 70kg

TBH, I am not even trying. I know there is no chance. I only hope not to gain!

I look good fat, I'll look good skinny. I don't know how my wife can stand being married to the babe magnet that is me.

This weight business drives me nuts! I worked all weekend playing music, standing up for hours, shifting amplifiers and a ton of junk up and down stairs, barely had time to eat - and gained 4 kg! Then sat around for the next 2 days - and lost 5kg! It obviously has nothing to do with diet or exercise, the fat just attracts itself to your body.

I've been on a diet since mid December and have pretty steadily lost weight until the day after I shoveled and scraped ice so vigorously, and then walked a couple of miles in the snow to get to the store. The day after all that unexpected exercise I was up FOUR pounds. It kind of panicked me because it seemed extreme, but when I googled it I found quite a few instances of people's weight going up after prolonged exercise that they weren't accustomed to. Apparently injured muscles retain fluid. I can't say for sure that's what happened to me, but that four pounds was gone the next day...

You gained 4 kg and then lost 5 kg ?? Don't you mean pounds ? I've seen some weight gain as well after a rigorous workout but never ever 4 kg. 1 kg would be the maximum weight gain I've ever seen (as a result of exercise).

And if you lose 5 kg in a couple of days, you've probably lost a lot of water. Sadly enough, fat doesn't disappear quite so fast.

Such rapid weight changes can only be due to water lost or retained. The only sensible way to look at weight loss is on a longer time scale. This is why many people advise weighing yourself only once a week.

I prefer to weigh every day (on a Wii Fit, as it has a precise scale and keeps an automatic record), but I don't pay any attention to day-to-day changes. But I do look at the trend over the past week, two weeks, month, to make sure things are going to plan.

I do mean kilograms - I don't even have a scale that measures pounds. I can only put it down to fluid as it was also quite hot. The lower weight is my "normal" weight but I know I can gain and lose a lot (usually 1-2 kg) when we get bouts of very hot weather. Not looking forward to tomorrow when it will be 42 deg (and that's Celsius not F!) - perhaps a nice day indoors in front of the air conditioner.

well, you should see me in person. I was 50 kg. After 1 month living away from home (in that one month: no breakfast, lunch is instant noodles and dinner is optional. supper is apple.) I lost 5kg and looked bony (I am 1.67 m). Then I moved to another place where I had someone prepare my meals and I gained 4kg right after a month.

I never posted in this topic cause I never worried about my weight. Should I? 5"6 and 105 lbs sound reasonable.

Nope, you don't have to worry about weight at all The fact that you feel confident enough to reveal how much you weigh says it all.

4 to 5 kg in a month I can understand, especially when you're eating lots of delicious homecooked meals. I gained a couple of kilograms right after I moved out because I'd been eating a lot of fastfood. But 4 kg in a couple of days ... that's a completely different story.

Not on a diet, just changed workout regimes though. Focusing a little less on endurance (running and biking) and a little more on whole body strength. P90X is, as of right now, owning me. But its awesome

I saw my endocrinologist yesterday. He was delighted with my weight loss and FINALLY diabetes control, because it has been uncontrolled for most of the past 5 years.

He turned me on to a couple of good weight and blood glucose tracking apps for my iPad.

The best info I got from him, however, was about exercise. It turns out that my walking and then running as far as possible, then walking and running again is called "interval training." he said that is much better for boosting metabolism than going flat out for a long period. It keeps your cardio going stronger and ramps up the metabolism.

I only know for sure that Tim's underpants fell down while he was working out, and now yesterday, my bra was so loose that it slipped up over my boobs while exercising. I have lost most of the pudginess under my arms and the bras are just too big now. YAY!!

Congratulations again I do a lot of interval training as well. If you really want to be able to run a couple of kilometers: there are some pretty good 'start to run' schedules. You 'learn' to run 5 kilometers in 9 weeks. Every lesson is an interval training. You start with 1 or 2 minutes running followed by 1 or 2 minutes walking. Every lesson takes 20 to 40 minutes.
