Version 0.6b8 looks very stable to me under OS X 10.5.7. I don't do any bulk conversions , but for all the database management, metadata updates, and format conversion done by a more or less typical user, calibre 0.6 is terrific. It seems a bit slower than 0.5 but I suspect that's just an impression caused by watching it too closely. There are a couple of minor "cosmetic" that I find desirable, but I think I'm ready to delete my backup database.

What are the cosmetic changes you would like to see?

Since you asked, is there any reason why the Jobs button in the lower right went from a recessed button like the two next to it to a non-recessed button? At least this is what I see under Windows XP. [Edit: I just started it up in 0.6b8 and it looks fine. Perhaps it's not going back to recessed after doing conversions. Or more likely it was already fixed.]

The Cover Browser needs to be completely redone to make it look more something like a Mobipocket Reader bookshelf and less like an iPod view.

Those are todo items for the 0.6.x series. Anything else you're seeing inconstancy wise like the jobs button example?

Nope. And it looks like jobs button was fixed silently in 0.6b8.

Oh, wait, I did find one. The first dropdown button for Preferences doesn't work. It looks like it's been mis-labeled as a sub-menu and there's nothing in the submenu.

Also, it would be nice if double-clicking on the minimized Calibre icon in the taskbar restored it. (I think it used to under 0.5 but maybe I'm just misremembering.) Windows again.

Anyone else having the issue were the maximize button does not work anymore for them?
I also try double-clicking on the windows bar and nothing.
When I right click on the top, maximize is greyed-out.

I concur, the maximum button does not work (which may be why double-clicking it on the taskbar doesn't work).

Good to hear I find 0.6 pretty solid for my day-to-day use as well, but unfortunately that's a very small subset of all its features

Regarding the maximize button, I have to get to it eventually, I'm just really lazy about booting up windows.

Does right clicking on the taskbar icon bring up its menu?

Have you tried virtual box? It's amazing piece of software.
I just installed it on my Ubunutu machine and have had not hiccups on my PC. I pretty much leave it running all the time in case I need to access a windows program. I've only had this program for a week but so far so good.

I use vmware workstation. Unfortunately, my main desktop is now almost 5 yrs old and struggles like hell when running a VM, and because I'll be moving house soon, I'm holding off on buying a replacement. So keeping the VM running in the background is not an option for me.
