As I remember from watching ZNN (Zelda's News Network), AmEx was on the other side of the country demanding to be paid for DixieGal's overdue Black credit card since they refused to accept chocolate or seal pelts as payment. (The seals inside the pelts were not to pleased about the situation either.)

It seems that the international community was not pleased with the current currency reforms:
