Funnily enough, it works with the new book I am reading. I guess it's rather selective, let's see if this happens with another book.

I received the oasis yesterday and so far I must say I'm impressed.
Compared to the previous gen, the light is more even although if you look closely you can see areas of the screen where it's uneven but I reckon I am very sensitive on this subject (I couldn't stand watching my voyage and it's blotchy screen). The e reader is snappy and very comfortable to hold, the page turn buttons are a killer feature for me. My 4th gen Paperwhite seems a cheap device when put side by side with the oasis. I have a doubt: is it better to let the battery drain and then do a full recharge or should I instead do that now? Thanks |

I ended up getting one as well though I hardly needed a new Kindle. I blame this thread and my weak will. Anyway, I am very happy with it until the next shiny object.
There was a discussion on batteries recently and it seems there is no need to drain your battery these days. I'm not sure I know how to link things here so hope this works. Batteries |

I bought an Oasis 3 on August 8th. I returned it on August 19th. Comparing the Oasis 3 with my Paperwhite 4 the screen on the Oasis could be brighter. For reading, for me, they were equal. Colored lights only interest me at Christmas. The size was, for me, inconvenient. I can slip my Paperwhite 4 into my pants pocket or a pocket on my Guayabera shirt but not the Oasis. As for page-turn buttons, I don't need buttons on my Kindle or my fly.
My most positive impression was the cloth cover for the Oasis. After the Oasis 2 cover fiasco and the Voyage California Origami cover I found the very practical Oasis 3 cover refreshing. To be honest, if the cost were the same as a Paperwhite 4, I might have kept it to use just at home. But, it isn't even close to the same price. $270 vs. $150 gets me a lot of books. I've had no problem resisting this time. Except for the extra colored lights there are only slight differences from the Oasis 2 and 3. I can wait for the next one.

Has anyone else found that the Oasis 3 has better battery life than the Oasis 2? The short battery life was one of my biggest gripes with the last one. I used to have to charge the O2 every few days but I've gone well over a week now without needing to charge the O3.

How is the O3 holding up after some time of use? I still use mine mainly in the house, because I am hesitant for getting any scratches on the back. This was never a problem with the Voyage due to the back cover material (which I really love!), but I seem to be more sensitive with the O3...

If you don't want scratches on the back try skins from decalgirl.com. I love how they make your devices look. My current kindle has the Almond Blossoms in high gloss and it looks like Chinese porcelain. It's also less slippery.

Last week I replaced my O3. The lighting had a patch of cooler colour temperature, near the upper right area of the screen. It wasn't too obvious to see, but it was there.
I'm very sensitive to noticing lighting imperfections on Kindles. I had to replace my Paperwhite 4 times until I got one that was acceptable. The O3 screen overall is definitely an improvement to previous generations of Kindle. With my first O3, lowering the brightness to a dim level suitable for dark room reading made the imperfections stand out more, and it drove me crazy. The replacement is much better. However, what I find interesting is the replacement has warmer LEDs in comparison. It's not a big deal, in fact, I rather favour it over the previous O3. |

How are the buttons?
Can anyone comment on the buttons on the new Oasis? The buttons on the Oasis 2 made an audible click, which is fine on a plane but not in a quiet room. Is there any difference with the Oasis 3?
